99% of skaters are chill but some of the biggest pricks I've ever met have been old crusty skaters. Other than some bratty rich kid issues skiers seem to be chill too and tend to mellow out as they get older.

semi related but I think its wack how hotdog skiing as a whole is basically just treated like a joke in freeskiing. There's a timeless style to some of those older tricks plus some pretty ahead of its time footy out there but all you every hear about is spread eagles, people crashing, and the figure skating angle on ski ballet vs the fact that it was basically a flatground contest. Those guys should get the same respect the dogtown crew does in skating

I just see that all of my skater friends have the exact same narrow view on what’s cool and what isn’t and see anything that deviates from that even a little bit as wack, and they follow trends like crazy. Skiing isn’t quite like this yet but it’s getting there.

it’s definitely on the path to homogeneity, very evident in recent years. But same with skateboarding, those who separate themselves always find themselves at the top

Same with anything really, not just street crews. I get putting respect on peoples names but but don’t sit here and tell me “no one will ever have style like brogan!” When I could name probably 50 style lords who all have infinitely better style than brogan ever did.
And on top of the hood was legendary but Magma I and II blow that shit out of the water any day of the week. Gonna sit and drool over Sammy Carlson throwing dubs on hood while hunter hess is doing triples off a natty quarter pipe like come on.
Shit irks me, we living in the best generation of skiers and ski films but everyone too busy dickriding old pros and getting caught up in nostalgia to even realize the best shit of all time is coming out now, not 10-15 years ago
Any trick involving your hands touching the ground or rail looks stupid. Also those knee slides that people do on boxes take 0 skill and also look stupid.

I'd say they were heavily influenced for sure but I think they went beyond that and did a lot of original and progressive stuff.

Idk I thought ETG, HGs most well-known video, wasn't very dark and actually made street skiing look really fun, to me least. Easily one of my favourite videos of all time

snowboarders have been using the cameras every skier has flocked to recently for so much longer and they’re just way fucking better at tasteful filming and editing. hopefully skiing will hit this point but we still have a long way to go.

filming skiing with a fisheye doesnt really make any sense picture wise.
skating it actually has a practical application and enhances the quality of the shot
will agree tho that snowboarders make it look better. prolly cuz most of em skate too and actually understand why/where a fisheye is necessary, as well as its intended use
