Replying to Help an engineering student explain how a touring powder ski works!!

Hey NS,
I've got a project due tomorrow at 10am EST, the project is to explain how something works (i.e skateboard, 3D printer etc) So I figure why not talk about something I know well, and maybe learn some technical aspects in the process.

It's only supposed to be 3-5 minutes, but I would like to cover; Skins, the binding, rockered shape and wide width of ski, and base material of ski. Any help is much appreciated and I need to cite sources!

+K to all and who ever provides the most help will get an envelope with some stickers, or perhaps even some fresh baked goods if they are extremely helpful.
