Anyone film with a VX?

Im looking for filmers/crews that film with a vx or something alike.

Theres something about the quality of those things that I really love. A lot of skateboarders still use them but I dont see it a whole lot in skiing.

to each his own but I'm glad it didn't become as big of a deal with skiing like it is with skateboarding. Shitty looking footage just for the sake of looking shitty. And using them with skiing since their dynamic range is ass the snow is most likely going to be completely blown out. There are plenty of awesome cameras out there if you like the servo zoom style but the VXs time came and went IMO

we are jumping on that servo trend train this year

Got a job at a local news station and it was the perfect excuse to waste my money on something other than a dslr.

Couldn't agree more. The only time I don't mind some shitty VX footy is when it's used for random b-roll. It makes for good shenanigans and fuckery footage but can easily be over done IMO.

Never spent much time with the VX series but had my fair share of time spent behind GLs and DVXs. Learned a lot and got some memorable shots with em but I'm definitely not upset that the standards have changed.

All I know is, dslr-wideangle-glidecam is played out, and unless the filmer is exceptional, the footage is going to be clean-looking, but nothing exciting. 3CCDs just happen to have that gritty soul that some people like and I think looks interesting.

I wish filmers would be more open to using all kinds of equipment though. Like if the simple filmer used a dvx for a bit, then went back to his original set up, I think he'd be able to see filming in a new perspective and the edits would be that much more interesting.

Just my 2 cents
