been on kartel 98's for a couple seasons now, thinking about magnus's this year though. my only concern is after taking a few laps on my buddies FR's last season is they're gonna be to soft. thats why i loved the kartel, i could butter around and shit all day then still go send through black park and be fine on the big jumps.
i know the flex and rocker profile got updated so I'm just wondering how the changes will affect jumping and stiffness

I'm looking to get into touring this year and trying to decide if the Steeple 98 or 108 would be better for me. 80% Oregon, 20% Montana, 155lbs 5'10". I feel like the 98 would suite me best for most conditions, but the 108 with RES is so tempting (dreaming of finding deep pow). What conditions do you normally encounter touring in OR? Also, not sure what a good length would be even if I could decide on a ski. I know what I like in the park but this is all new to me. Can anyone help me out?

I can't speak on touring conditions in Oregon, but I know RES is amazing. It really depends on what your looking for, the 98 will be more traditional but still maneuverable, whereas the steeple 108 will be more surfy and pivoty but still can charge, especially at your size.
I live in Tahoe, ended up staying here for this season, and we have some pretty chunky snow conditions. It is similar to cascade type snow, and RES is pure magic. You get the hook free feel of reverse sidecut, but it can hold an edge for all mountain conditions. I have owned the steeple 112 and own a Billy Goat. In 3D snow, there are no better skis IMO..
The wren 98 will be similar to a tychoon I bet, but better. I absolutely loved the tychoon, and it could do pretty much anything. It floated surprisingly well for its waist width, and I have no doubts that steeple 98 will be even better in this regard. The tychoon was pretty soft and light, but it was damp, and that allowed for a decent speed limit for me at 200lbs. On3ps tour core isn't a noodle, it's more burly than your average rossignol or armada freeride ski (TST, JJ, Soul 7), but they are just as easy to ski.
Both would work, but personally I'd go with the Steeple 108. It will be a lot of fun touring with mid winter I bet, and then get something cheap in the spring for the conditions at hand. Or get both..
I spent much of this year touring on the Steeple 102. 98 underfoot will still be a ton of fun in pow, but I would pick the 108 unless you are doing a lot of variable condition, post season alpine and volcano skiing. In wet and heavy crap, that extra width will be the ticket.

Ordered a Kartel 108 and the Billy Goat already. I've had enough of full rocker, so I'm going all in on On3p for this season.
Pretty split between the two. Alta/Bird Pass holder, but not overly concerned about soft snow days with the Billy Goat in the quiver, and even with the Kartel 108, there were some powder days I left the big skis home and just rode the Devastators last season. Still I'm leaning towards the 108, but I had a ton of fun riding the 98 in the spring conditions when On3p came to Alta last spring.
Thoughts from anyone who's spent time on the Wrens?

Get the 98 to broaden your quiver, unless you have other skis that width.
If you want the baddest, most charger ski in On3ps lineup for skiing big mountain terrain in variable conditions, than go 108. Otherwise, I think the 98 will be of more use to you.

When would you use Kartel 108 vs Wren 108?
Regarding the wrens, for big mt I'd prefer 108 but if your intended use is bad snow/ugh days I'd drop down to the 98.
Hey guys, I recently bought a second hand pair of Kartel 98's because I got a killer deal. They are currently centre mounted and I don't need to Re-mount for my boots to fit. I plan on using them as a daily driver about 80% all mountain/ 20% park. Does it make any sense to get them remounted for all mountain use?
Flex comparisons of the Kartel 108 (191cm), compared to 14/15 Jeffrey 122? Billy Goat?
I'm retiring the 122s after two seasons on them, and the K108 will be my new daily driver for steeps and playfulness.
I know that all the skis have a great deal of stiffness in them already (which is the greatest), I'd just like to know how the ski has changed.

In the same boat as you except I'm deciding between a k98 and a Magnus, also deciding if I want to order custom softer Magnus, anyways what ever I cop I'm either getting either the Charlie Murphy top sheet or the k108 top sheet
I'm 19, haven't grown much in a while. My park skis are 171s. For the most part I'm trying to ski all over on days with better snow(park when it's average conditions) AND a big reason is for backcountry jumps.
Last year I got 186 jefferey 114's at ~ 5'11''
For me they were the perfect size, could still charge super hard, but just the right size to be real maneuverable. The extra length is noticble but if you're a sold skier you can use that extra length to your benefit.

I'm 5'8"/ 135lbs and have the 176 Jeffrey's.. Kinda wish I would have gotten the 181s, but the 176s are still a bit taller than me so they'll be good.
If you're still growing I'd get the 181s
I'm 6'3" 200lbs and rode the 186 Jeff 114 last year. The shorter size is nice for bumps and tight spots, plus jibbing, and they still have the "backbone" On3p is known for. The flotation is still awesome too. Sometimes I wished for the 191, but I have other skis for charging. Plus the 186 Jeffrey's were still burlier than the 189(measure 191cm) shreditor 112s I'm riding this year, so they make a much better one-ski-quiver, for both jibbing and charging any terrain.
I only got rid of them because I wanted a noodle, for absolute butter-ability first and foremost. My shreditors fill that role nicely

The Magnus has the same flex profile as the Filthy did, but it has slightly less tail rocker and slightly narrower tail. The suggested mounting position is shifted back a tad from the FR which was dead center to match where the sidecut moved to.
Long story short the Magnus is still a slayer in the park, but it is a bit more versatile to ride everywhere else (still more park specific and closer to center mount than the Kartel 98, for example).
It is a better ski than the FR...which I know is a bold thing to say. But it is true.
