Replying to Skibum Life Planning
I've been doing the whole ski bum shtick for 5 years and am not ready to grow up yet.
During those past 5 years I have spent winters in tahoe, utah and the summers living in a car at hood.
After shredding snowbird this winter I've realized the utah culture is too stiff and boring off the ski hill to stick around another year.
I absolutely love riding the bird/alta but can't stand when I have to come down to slc to get groceries etc. Salt Lake is a polluted mormon nightmare that makes going back to Govy oregon and Reno nevada alot more desirable.
So I've begun to formulate plans for where to chase snow next.
I'm seeking unparalleled skiing, a moderate cost of living, easy commutes to the ski hill and a wide range of other outdoor activities.
Options I have tossed around:
Scummit County (Frisco/Dillon)
Positive: Close to 4 resorts, 14ers, Legal weed, woodward copper.
Negative: Vail Corp. Cost of Living. Bros. Denver traffic.
Girdwood AK:
Positive: Alaska, Touring, Fishing, National parks, natural beauty.
Negative: Rural, Little daylight in winter, less challenging skiing.
Mammoth CA:
Positive: Sierras, California, Close to home.
Negative: Crowds, low snow years, proximity to airport.
Jackson Wy:
Positive: Amazing skiing, Tetons/Yellowstone.
Negative: Finding Housing, Commuting, Wages.
