2017 Honda Ridgeline

What are your thoughts on this? I know it willg et a lot of hate...but I was a big fan of the old one. Kinda dug the styling and had enough cargo space for anything I would ever need....but I didn't own one so I can't speak to it but from what I read it was basically a pickup minivan.

The new one I think looks pretty ugly...but maybe its better in person. It definitely is a step in the right direction in terms of comfort / cargo capacity for the average joe who wants a pickup. I just feel like the bed is to short. I do like the in bed trunk. But it needs another 2 feet. I think the front is ugly as hell but i bet it gets better mpg's than most on the road.

I am curious how it will sell. I am in the market for a new car later this year and am waiting to see the new frontier, ridgeline, tacoma (really like but weird seating position), and not a fan of the Colorado.

I guess that being said...if it was priced right with the AWD, and could fit skis in the bed with an extender I would give it a second look since I don't tow or haul

Still ugly, still unibody, no true 4wd, same engine as a pilot. To me this doesn't even compete with real small trucks like the taco and frontier. Tailgate stuff looks like it would be cool though.

Looks like a Pilot w/ a bed to be honest. Not a huge fan of the look.

Built for the soccer mom/dad who want access to a (short) bed without the ride of a truck. I will be curious to see what the MPG, tow capacity, and hauling capacity will be.

I see it being semi-successful given there are no major issues.

They are fighting for a market share that they have already lost. I think they are going in the right direction in actually making it a real pickup ( the old model was an SUV with a bed you could not really use).

I think they have great ideas when it comes to engines, and structure....but I would buy all of the other midsize trucks before all this.

Its in a fight vs the Toyota Tacoma ( which is an overall better truck), the Nissan Fronter ( with the new Cummins option), GMC Canyon/Chevy Colorado ( multiple truck of the year awards, and the new Duramax option).

Its not going to sell. In about 5 years it will be pulled off the shelf, and Honda is going to suffer a bad loss because of it.

Personally, I would be excited for the Jeep pickup (if the rumors are true) assuming it has better reliability than the current iterations of Chrysler products..

Glory days for midsize trucks right now. I read online they confirmed the wrangler pickup for 2017. I would be ALL OVER that if it was priced well, and had a decent size bed.

For me, I don't need a truck for towing / hauling. Im planning on moving west for work this year to rocky mountains Denver probably so basically want it to carry ski shit in the bed plus other random house hold items but also have the off road capability to handle roads and snow up there.

Personally I'd love a wrangler, tacoma , ranger in that order.

The Jeep truck rumours have been confirmed and it will go into production in 2017. Pretty sweet.

Agreed. For me my biggest qualm with the ridgeline is the bed size. Its just to small and not deep enough it seems like. And the 30-40k price range will really hinder its sales. Who would buy this over a fully loaded Colorado/tacoma/frontier (all proven capable body on frame trucks)

Exactly. It is not a truck but it is not a SUV either. It has a niche though which it may fulfill. Pricing, performance, and reliability will determine its success.

I think most trucks that are not bare bones (2d, 2wd, long bed) will be priced above $30k these days. My 2016 SR5 4X4 DCSB Tacoma was $36k OTD (with an extended warranty) which was right below MSRP. I did buy it a few months after it was released and they were flying off the lots, so price negotiation was limited but I think most people will be paying within $3k of that.

Honestly...I think that Wrangler truck is going to suck dick. Just like the current Wrangler sucks. It's a soccer mom jeep. If you buy one you have to put at least an extra 10 000 to make it half decent.

The last real jeep is the TJ, especially in the Rubicon Unlimited package. Lockers, sweet tranny, that 4.0 engine.

Sounds like you should get a Tacoma or a Colorado.

But yeah, the mid size truck market is big right now. Being that I drive a Frontier myself, I am pretty partial to them. Its a pretty bad ass truck that does everything I need it to! Current rumors are that the next generation Frontier will have a diesel, so that would be a major game changer to look for!

That's an awesome looking rig! I have a Tacoma and love it. Mid sized trucks are definitely worth getting a foreign company.

Is it confirmed for US though? There has always been the diesel navara overseas. I love my fronty, just not how thirsty it is.
Titan warrior concept is the hottest thing I have seen out of Detroit so far.

I've got a wrangler unlimited right now. I absolutely love it. So much fun to drive, especially in the summer when I can take the doors/roof off. Only MAJOR issue is mpg. It's absolute trash. I get a solid 13 mpg. But they offer so many easy options to customize. I swapped out my headlights for leds, installed a 2.5" lift, and threw on some 33" mud tires.

I loved it, but I wonder how abysmal its MPG will be. The Cummings Titan XD apparently is not great in that regards, even when compared to other full sized trucks.

I think it is stupid if companies don't offer a base model and a luxury model. There is a market for both.

Cummins in the Titan, correct. No real word on power plants for the new Frontiers, or when to expect them.

Toyota kinda dropped the ball with there new Tacoma engine, so it leaves a lot of room for Nissan to capitalize on

You mean like this? I just built one up on the GMC site with most accessories (because let's be honest, people who buy these get the accessories) and it came out to $76,000.

That's before the welding rig, lift, tires and whatever mods he did to it. Luxury work trucks...

that thing is a fanboy truck, for people that want to say they have a truck, but dont want all that comes with it. The article spends more time talking about the bs in the 'tailgate' than it does actual specs. It couldnt even take my skis without putting them diagonally across the bed. Not built on a truck chassis, hell it is barely even on a SUV chassis. No real 4x4, probably no low end torque either. Plus it looks like an accord and ford ranchero had some inbred butt sex and somehow this thing was produced.

yeah that looks pretty sweet. i wish my work would switch me to an allowance vs just giving me a vehicle. they took my truck and gave me a small suv so i'll never be able to (financially) justify owning a nice vehicle until things change

I have a pilot currently and while I love that thing, I could really use something with more off road ability mainly for mountain biking but I do understand the appeal to that type vehicle. That being said, the new ridgeline is a pilot with a bed instead of 3rd row seating. For a lot of people that is really all they want or need. Think soccer moms being able to throw their smelly kids gear outside not in. I think this thing will sell to that market and it will excel in that market. All depends on price and mpg though. Just my thoughts
