Replying to PSA: Shops technically can't mount the old Rossi Race 155 and 185 pivot bindings
I went to Podium in Frisco to have some old race skis remounted to fit my boots. The skis have the old Rossignol Race 155 FKS/Pivot bindings that we all know and love. Virtually identical to the modern FKS/Pivot 18's but more affordable because they're all used, old bindings now. When I brought them in, I was told that they couldn't do a mount because the bindings are now too old. Legally speaking, I guess shops are no longer able to mount them because they have been placed on the big ol' list of bindings that are too old to be considered "safe." That being said, I had a pair mounted on a different pair of skis at Alpine Sports in Breck a few months ago. It's simply a matter of finding a shop that either isn't knowledgeable about it, doesn't reference the list, or simply doesn't care.
Does anyone know when they were placed on the list? Maybe its been this way for awhile but its news to me. So yeah, just a heads up.
