Help choosing a ski for charging

I'm looking for looking for a ski to just charge hard with, pretty much just fly through whatever is in front of me, Cliffs, Pow or most likely on the east crud. I'm looking for something responsive and predictable. underfoot around 100 to 115. im a smaller guy, only 5' "7" 145lbs but want something stiff and between a 3 and 3+ skier type. thinking Blizzard Cochise, Nordica Helldorado or the Volkl 100eight. (pretty flexible on he budget)

The Cochise and 100eight would both work but I would take the Helldorado off your list. Not as much of a charger as it is marketed to be.

Also check out the Moment Belafonte and the Salomon, Salomon Q Lab, and ON3P Wrenegade

100eight is definitely not a charging ski either, shouldn't be on the list.

But agree that op should look at the Moment Belafonte or Governor.

Or even the Mantra if you're looking at the narrower end of the spectrum.

Chill dude it can help to have other opinions especially if people have used the gear, wanting to know what other people recommend has nothing to do with skill and even though I'm asking I work at a ski shop so I know my shit pretty decently.

Do you? The 100eight is definitely not a charging ski, yet you put it on the list. I hope you aren't selling the 100eight to your customers as a ski you can go out and blow stuff up on.

Oh, well the 100eight and 90eight are both designed specifically to be softer, more playful skis compared to the Mantra and Kendo, which as you probably know are both pretty substantial.

Are you looking for this to be a ski that you'll only be using on softer snow days?

He is on the east coast, some of those don't turn so well

on3p billygoat because it is the shit in soft snow and turns on a dime compared to traditional chargers because of the RES. You could also look at the Steeple 112 if the BG looks too big, although the Steeple with its lighter layup does not charge through crud the way a BG does.

I was looking into the Mantra but I wanted something a little bit wider since this wont be as much of a daily driver as a ski to use in fresh snow.

Atomic Automatic should get a mention, especially since you're light.

Black Crows and Whitedot skis make some good options but the names escape me... Whitedot Preacher I think?

Then yeah, I'd look into the Moment's or ON3p Billy Goat/Wrenegade, or most of the other suggestions people have made

They all are around 22.5 to 28ish I think. No too bad at all between all the rocker, tip taper and full rocker on the HOJIs.

That said I didnt notice hes on the east coast and didnt take that into consideration at all.

I use the Candide 2.0 for days with less than 6 inches of freshies. They're super chargy. A bit expensive, but so much fun.

I would recommend a Kaestle BMX 108 if you can find the 13/14 model. I have the 13/14 and this ski is brutal. It takes strong legs and lots of attention to not be the passenger on this ski as well as making the skis what you want.

So ya, I can say, that a Blizzard Cochise is pretty similar, but not as aggressive and ..."raw" as this one. The Blizzard is just more universal and made for the "normal" customer. Straight lining couloirs, Mach 10 or steep slopes, the Kaestle feels everwhere stable. If you re skiing, you re not limited because of the ski.

If you like stiff, I have a set of Salomon Czars I'm about to sell. They are killer for landing cliffs but when it comes to anything that the kids like (i.e. butters) they are not the ski to choose. I don't necessarily like them because they have a hell of a large turning circle but they do enjoy short stuff if you really get into it. Otherwise I've enjoyed Rossi S3 (can be put on charge mode) and the mantra is a great ski as well. Check out the Line prophet 100's or the ON3P billygoats (i think).

Have you skiied the 100eight? It skis almost identically to a mantra just wider, definitely doesn't have much of a speed limit. It is replacing the gotama, which also worked quite well as a charger. I have spent alot of time on all of those skis including the kendo as they are in our demo fleet at the shop i work at. The reason it is still "playful" is because of a really mellow full rocker.

It may not be marketed as a charger but it is definitely not soft and it likes big drawn out turns. IMO it blasts through crud better than mantras despite not having metal. But that is probably due to the width. Mantra is a bit better on hardpack.

I would definitely leave that ski on the list especially for east coast.

As for OP, i would also look at 4rnt Devastator, or if you can get your hands on a gotama(discontinued) they are both really fun versatile skis, while still maintaining the ability to charge on hardpack or pow.

both the BMX and the Cochise are great. my only input on your point is that the cochise are arguably the beefiest ski on the market so this isn't entirely true i sell the cochise at the shop i work at and its the ski i tend to point people away from because the this is just too beefy for your average skier the thing literally only goes fast that is all it's the chargiest ski i've ever ridden so much so that it really isnt a great ski for anything else unless you are 190+ pounds and a racer. id say the BMX its a better ski tho

my choice for my charger this season is the Fischer Ranger 108Ti. it has titanol layering and is prolly the most versatile charger on the market rn as it is not only stiff and burly but also crazy light. id go with the cochise for a ski for just like pointing coulairs tho.

cochises are some of the easiest metal 'charger' skis on the market. The full rocker is super pivoty and easy to throw around. I feel like they could benefit from an extra 5mm or so underfoot to add a little more stability and float. That said, I havnt skied the newer ones that have slight camber underfoot.
