Argent skis is the brainchild of lifelong skiers who love to approach the mountain as if it were a playground. As kids we grew up skiing on Eastern mountains that did not have great snow conditions nor terrain parks, and so the exploration and adventure became a huge part of our everyday skiing experience. Whether you are skiing on a groomer, in a streambed, on a bump run, or on a mountain biking trail – your equipment’s versatility is key to having a ridiculously good time, no matter what the mountain throws at you. We here at Argent firmly believe that every day is the best time to go skiing, and we want to provide skis that can charge in any condition, and on any slope. Throughout all levels of skiing there is no better feeling than pushing the limits of what you consider possible – whether it be stomping that new trick in the park, or lacing the perfect turn into a groomer – and our lineup of skis is designed to enhance all aspects of your skiing.
The ski industry has changed rapidly since the dawn of the 21st century. This began with the twin-tip movement propagated by the Canadian Air Force at the turn of the century, and has continued thanks to the rocker revolution that Shane McConkey started with his Volant Spatula and K2 Pontoons. Since then skis have become bigger, burlier, and far more complicated than any previous generations ever imagined. The team at Argent was at the front of this wave as we had Salomon Pocket Rockets the first year they came out (2001). Many people, especially on the East, would talk to us about them on the chairlift, ask us how we could even turn, called us crazy, and generally frowned upon the idea of a 92mm (oh so fat!) ski being anything other than un-skiable. Little did these people know of the revolution that was going to take place in the decade following the advent of these skis. Look at skis on the slopes today and compare them to what you grew up skiing on, what we have today probably wouldn't be considered skis if we showed them the Glen Plake or Scott Scmidt in their prime.
Now that the ski industry is more innovative and diffuse than ever before, one might wonder, what can Argent offer that other ski companies can’t? Due to the massive divergence that has taken place in skiing – between Park/Pipe, Racing, and Big Mountain/Freeride – there are many great skis out there made for each of these different disciplines, (which each require totally different skill sets and equipment). Our team here at Argent skied and researched all these skis and thought; where is the ski that I can take out on a regular day on the mountain and rip it, no matter what the mountain tries to throw at me? Well, after years of searching for that ski, we decided to make it ourselves. Come along for the ride and follow our journey to make skiing the most enjoyable and accessible it has ever been.
