1337Hahahahahah the kids that would come on here and say it wasn't a pyramid scheme years ago were so funny.
slum.lordWell now you can go work for Herbalife
lIllISomehow I don't feel sorry for "victims" of pyramid schemes. If you're that gullible you probably need a hard lesson.

MalcolmI know a few people who have been brainwashed by them. It's pretty scary when you think about it.
theabortionatorI mean yes and no. This was designed to prey on young people. Somebody they viewed as an authority figure using that time where you're figuring out you don't agree with your parents on a lot of stuff and telling them that there's this awesome path to success, and not to listen to the "haters".
lIllIIf you aren't skeptical of humanity by the time you're 20, you probably need a swift kick in the nuts one way or another*.
Victimization is when something bad is done unto you beyond some reasonable proximate act of your own. If you affirmatively choose to partake in activity that you'd have to ride the short bus not to perceive as sketchy in the first place, you aren't a victim. You're an idiot. And then there's the droves of people who aren't idealistic sub-adults who fall for pyramid schemes. smh
Just remember that pyramid schemes wouldn't exist if there weren't a TON of people stupid enough to fall for them. At which point we have to ask: to what degree can we hold people accountable for their own stupidity? Maybe that's the actual problem, and that pyramid schemes are only a symptom that need to be lanced occasionally.
*I'll give an exception to mentally incapable people such as the old and senile.
theabortionatorA lot of these people were younger than 20. Not sure if there was an age cu off for being involved but seemed like a ton of high schoolers getting sucked into all that bullshit.

JibbaTheHuttI think theres something to be said for lack of education. If somebody hasnt had access to decent education than they may not know what a pyramid scheme is and how it affects them, the promise of a get rich quick job is enticing.
NinetyFourOh man, the current big thing in my area is Arbonne (would love it if some 0 post accounts came in here to defend the brand) preying on girls to suck them into their pyramid scheme. I've had to clear my Facebook of them because they're always spamming about how they've been given the opportunity to start their own business with really flexible hours, make money to support themselves, and receive amazing product etc... Give it 5 years and we'll see how enthusiastic they are.
theabortionatorIf they're sponsoring skiers it MUST be legit. Where can I sign up?
a_pla5tic_baglol out of curiosity i googled arbonne and newschoolers and this came up.
NinetyFourThe worst part of all this Arbonne shit was how some bitches we're hyping up these white Mercedes that they were 'giving away' and how their regional managers got one, or whatever. With that they sounded super hopeful of getting their own one day, but in the meantime being able to 'support' themselves and their family was good enough...

That's the best summary of how fucking stupid 'multi-level marketing' *cough* pyramid scheme *cough* really is.
Seriously though do these people not have keyword Google alerts to spam this thread in defense?
theabortionatorHad never heard of it but reading about it now thanks to your link.
NinetyFourI mean it's like Tupperware, Mary Kay, etc... 'Multi-level marketing', all people need to know is that you're not going to replace your salary or even come close to making mad stacks by being on the bottom level.
If you look at peoples in-depth reviews of any of the stuff these people sell they're never really all that great either. With that you have to ask yourself, do we even need this option of buying, considering online shopping nowadays? I could see it being more valid like 10-15 years ago but it is just too easy to get whatever the fuck you want on the good ole e-webz now.

slum.lordMy Grandma sold Tupperware in the 50's-60's and made really good money before technology turned it all upside down. And say what you will about Tupperware, but those things are seriously damn near unbreakable
