It was really cool when they put Abby Wambach on the field. Obviously big for her. Also when they played the forty-something year old player. Really big day on so many levels for the USWST. Good for them!

Carli Lloyd's chip from midfield was probably the most impressive thing of the entire tournament. Tobin
Heath's goal later in the game was also pretty impressive. On a separate note, it was kind of odd to see Alex Morgan missing so many shots. She's usually a machine. She's also perhaps the hottest women's soccer player ever.

The ironic thing? None of them have ever done anything to help improve the popularity. One cannot expect the salaries between men and women to be even remotely similar when the levels of popularity are so incredibly different. The reason men get paid more is that they generate hundreds of thousands of viewers for even the lowest levels of WC games. There are rarely ever any empty stadiums in the mens WC, yet, I would say the majority of the group games for women had empty seating. The same can be said for the club level too, where the average MLS game sees 20,000 fans in attendance yet the NWSL attendance is at a paltry 4,000. So do not complain about the difference in pay when people, especially those complaining have done nothing to help improve the game yourself. If people want to see it improve, please, go watch games, buy jerseys, promote it, but do not sit there and complain because then these complainers look like idiots.

Haha omg dying atm. I wouldn't say that tho, that's the WNBA. Women's soccer is pretty much watched during the world cup and Olympics.

I was so pissed when she had that break away and Japans #10 fouled her. She maybe had one more defender to beat and it was going to be just her and the goalie. Really wanted to see her get one more so she was at least tied with Marta for the top scorer in WWC history. Speaking of records, can't believe we tied Germany's 2007 record of 540 scoreless minutes. I mean what are the chances Japan scores right at minute 540... Such a bummer we didn't hold em off for at least another minute..

I think Morgan was so off because she missed so many games leading up to the WC with an injury. Hard to keep your groove and play well with the team when you have missed alot of games. She had some impressive ball skills but couldn't finish at all. A few times she should have crossed the ball rather than shoot, we would have had so many more goals if that was the case.

I watched all of the US games this WC and the last. The reason the women's soccer is good to watch is because they don't suck. They may not have the style of goals you see from a Messi or Ronaldo, but they play the game well and yea, it help that the US wins. Other women's sports the girls just aren't anywhere close to as exciting as the men. Soccer, at least in my opinion, can be just as exciting if you are watching men or women.

I had to ask to get the USA game on, then with 20 mins left in the game the bartender asks me if Im still watching and if she can put the Cavs game on. Pretty sure she didnt expect me to want to watch the USA game still. Even heard someone else at the bar say, "womens soccer...? Who cares about womens soccer!?"
Well 10 mins later she turned the game off and changed it to the Cavs game. I left her a bad tip.

Yeah I totally feel you! I went out of town for some work and went to eat at his resteraunt/bar thing since that was the only place to eat. They had TVs everywhere and I bet 90% of them were on the basketball game and the other 10% were like baseball or tennis. Not one had the U.S. Women's game on. Kinda a shame too cause pro soccer games are really fun to actually watch in person, like its a different vibe you know?

They look like "guys" based on your definition of what guys should look like. In the US, hell yeah, you're right, but that's not necessarily the case for other cultures or societies. Say what you want, but you should keep that in mind. Just a thought.

For sure. I haven't been to many pro games. Trying to get to some MLS games but no team in my town, gotta drive 3 hrs for it, which I will at some point. I've been to two USA games though. Those have been awesome. When I was in Europe in June there was not a single game being played anywhere I was. I was so pissed.

Yeah I have to drive about 2.5 hours to see Real Salt Lake but it's worth it. The vibe at the games is contagious.
