Transfer talk is well underway, so here's a new thread for the upcoming season.

With FFP being relaxed we can expect to see some big spending across the continent this summer. Apparently Juve want £80M for Pogba, who wants £250k a week.

TwigI'd almost rather go out to be honest. Arsenal have a small squad, why waste player resources on a competition you have 0 chance of winning. At least the league is so unpredictable that who knows.


Ah might as well stop trying on Champions League so you can focus on getting Champions League.

Pretty much yes, though I feel Arsenal will finish top 4 fairly comfortably. As things stand we have no chance of tangling with the likes of Bayern, Real, Barcelona, Juventus even PSG. But the Premier League is so unpredictable that who knows what's going to happen. Chelsea have had a terrible start barring the win against Arsenal and that game swung on a refereeing decision (Arsenal also played badly), City started strong but the wheels have fallen off and I'm not convinced Pellegrini is that great a manager, Liverpool appear to be nowhere and I can't seriously see that United defence getting to the title so it's wide open.

i know, i think it's a blessing in disguise. i just hope wenger doesnt go overboard now and push them too hard to try and qualify. it be interesting to see arsenal not compete in the next stage and see if that extra rest helps their season at all.

It'll be very hard for them to qualify now. They should've easily been able to come 2nd in the group, but now they have to nick at least a point against bayern and hope that Bayern kills the two other teams.

Yeah, both a blessing an a curse that Bayern are playing so well at the moment. Blessing because there's a good chance they do kill the other two teams, but a curse because it looks like it'll be really tough to take any points off of them.

What a season they had. Curious to see what next year holds for them, it will be weird seeing them in CL.

At least my squad (Newcastle) are finally out of the relegation zone for the first time in a while. Things are looking up and its good to have Benitez on board.

My favorite team (Dortmund) had one of their best years of all time and still finished second to Bayern, even with more goals for. And it was a frustrating loss to Liverpool in EL, espcially since all my roommates are Reds fans, but oh well i hope Liverpool gets smoked by VillaReal. And Hummels is leaving for Bayern :(. I is sad.

Torres is the real life embodiment of a meme, he scores we all scream: TORRES, he misses and we all scream: TORRES.

In a way it's tragic, he was destined to be one of the best strikers of this era, with Liverpool he was absolutely lethal. If it was him vs the keeper he scored, it was that simple. Ever since his knee injury he has been failing but annoyingly also at the same time playing brilliantly.

One moment he can show glimpses of the player he once was and then he passes two man with ease, he meets the goalie and then he turns into a crumbling mess and misses by several states.

He isn't shit for one match and good for another, no he switches between modes every 2 seconds. Every time he gives me hope before crushing my dreams. He has no confidence anymore, he is fit and gives it his all but it doesn't matter when his ability alters like a sinusoid.

I want the old Torres back, I'm not a Liverpool fan, but damn was he a striker back then:

Bournemouth - I think everyone really wants them to stay up though

Alternately I could see Villa taking the tumble over Bournemouth. Plays out similar to how Newcastle's season went last year, but lower when they fire Timmy.

But the Premier league sure has gone downhill, huh? I mean, Leicester winning the title is an amazing story and all, but shit, the big teams in England sure are bad now. I mean if you're an Arsenal fan, and to a lesser extent Spurs, how are you living with yourself right now? The one year United, Liverpool, City, and Chelsea all shit the bed, and you STILL can't win the title? If I was an Arsenal fan I probably would have legitimately killed myself by now. I don't know how they haven't burned the Emirates to the ground or publicly executed Wenger and Kroenke. Just goes to show that all the talk about the intensity of the Prem is bullshit. Everyone is soft as hell now.

It's been entertaining for sure, but it has been a bit of a shitshow this year. It's looking like it'll be the second lowest winners total in ten years (Leicester currently have 80, could also finish with 81 or 83):



That said, it has been one of the best European seasons in a while. Liverpool making Europa finals and City making CL semis are much better results than in previous years. They've also sured up our coefficient lead over Italy for another year.

The fact that this is true, that one BPL team in the CL quarter finals, and a team getting to the EL final is considered a big success should show you how much the Prem has dropped off in the last few years. I remember the days when EPL teams would drop out of the EL early and then say it was because they just didn't try because they didn't consider the EL worthy of their time. Now it's a great success for England as a whole when Liverpool makes the final. I know no EPL fan will ever admit it, but the epl just sucks right now. It's amazing that the EPL can make so much more money and have so many resources at their disposal than any other league in the world, and they still can't produce any good teams.

If lower BPL teams were as bad as lower Euro teams that would be true. BPL league play is way more demanding. The schedule is more intense and mid table or even lower table teams have way more money than those from Europe.
My guess is if you dropped a top La Liga or League 1 team in the Premier League they would suffer in the Champions League.

It's definitely a factor. I don't think any BPL team is better than the la liga big 3 but you can't ignore that there are more grueling matches every week that take more effort from the big teams in the European competitions.

Semi related but it will be really interesting to see how Leicester do next year with the European competition being added onto their schedule. Also really hoping they keep their squad together
