That's the dude who squandered 1.5 million from the city and bought a boat and was being investigated. He was trying to swindle them into hiring them for legal help then all the tuco crap happened. Now they thought Nacho killed the family but it turns out they just went into the woods with the money to hang out and wait.

In the first episode Saul meets with him and his wife in a diner, trying to get him (treasurer) to hire Saul because around 1.5 million in tax revenue had gone missing and he was obviously a suspect. He said he didn't do it and thought hiring a lawyer would look suspicious.

Then Saul calls him saying they are in danger, so they fake being kidnapped and go hide out in the desert.

I really enjoyed the third episode, and excited how the show and his character is developing.

So now we know that Jimmy was older when he went to law school. He probably just passed the bar and is just starting out, and broke as hell.

Starting off a bit slow but I have faith in Vince Gilligan

I'm enjoying it, it was great to see the beginning of him running the scam on the guy from the bar.

I also really like how in the ally scene at the beginning and the scene where the guy falls from the billboard they are all set ups...which have worked on me because I didn't see them coming.

Either way I do like this show and will continue on with it for atleast this season.

I want to see Mike kick some ass.

I like how he was shown as a con man before he was a lawyer. The whole process of him doing honest work really hit hard with them showing that he used to pull cons for a few bucks beforehand, especially because he put the two together to be more successful. I'm guessing that the cease and desist order is what forces him to change his name then make his own way as Saul Goodman. The teaser for the next episode that shows the old lady and such leads me to think that he'll have a few good cases then abandons his name to continue on with his practices and finds the office we see him in with Breaking Bad along with his main dudes like Mike and Bill Burr and the big black dude. He'll keep helping his brother for as long as he can until that disorder winds up killing him

Massive Spoiler alert. Also long review because my laundry is on and I have nothing better to do at 1am.

That episode went by quickly, which is actually kinda weird considering how amazingly slow it is. 26 seconds dedicated to an elderly woman going down stairs. The slowness, however, is appropriate. Jimmy's stunt has earned him massive amounts of attention, but it attracts an unusually group of clients. We start with a wannabe king of a secessionist nation/ farm, then the inventor of an innuendo toilet, then we dive into the forgettable and forgetful world of elderly people and their wills.

We see the world from Jimmy's point of view - the talks with the secessionist king are conducted with chairs arranged in an extremely statesmanlike manner. It's impossible not to look away while an elderly woman and porcelain doll wastes every second possible travelling downstairs, it's tedious for us like it is tedious for Jimmy. If it wasn't interesting it would be dull, but rather the tedium adds to the scene.

The Chuck sub-plot is developing nicely as well. Turns out Mrs. AcrossTheRoad isn't too happy with having her paper stolen, and has called the Police. Chuck won't let the police in, warning them of his condition and specifically warning them to leave the tasers outside. So obviously he's tasered, and ends up in Hospital. Chucks condition is ridiculous, and it is presented as such.

The interesting part about the Chuck side-plot is its impact on Jimmy's relationships with Kim and Hamlin. Chuck has a third of Hamlins company, so Hamlin is desperate to make sure Chuck is still sane enough (or insane enough) not to cash out on his third. Jimmy wants Chuck to cash out for two reasons - firstly he would have access to a significant amount of the money, and secondly just because he hates Hamlin. He also doesn't want to do anything that would damage either Kim or his relationship with Chuck.

But Jimmy is not a ruthless character like Walter White. In many ways, he's the exact opposite to White at this stage of Breaking Bad. Both characters had self-doubts - while White was afraid his tremendous talents were going to misuse because of an argument with Elliot, Jimmy is afraid he is nothing more than people believe him to be. Jimmys relationship with Chuck shows this most, while Chuck is a master lawyer and everything Jimmy wants to be, Jimmy doesn't even have a direction. This is most evident in this episode, Chuck asks Jimmy what his plans are and all Jimmy can do is regurgitate what Kim said while having her nails done. Now he's claimed to Chuck that he wants to specialise in elder law he goes about doing it - not because he really wants to, he hates doing wills, but because he wants to impress his brother.

Mike has been a separate thread to the tangled storylines so far, but it seems he might be coming to join the party soon. We don't see him until the end, and a the closing sequence is entirely dedicated to him. It's the first time we see Mike's life outside the courthouse parking lot, and he's a mysterious devil. First, he's working the nightshift. Then he's watching someones house. Then he's watching TV at home, in black and white. Guy clearly likes his art. Then the cops show up. Closing titles.

It's our first cliffhanger ending in Better Call Saul, and while it may come close to matching the one preceding Ozymandias for action, it's still absolutely enthralling. This show is building up superbly, I can't wait for the next episode.

- Back on page one I said something about Mike's job not really fitting in with his BB character, and one of you guys quoted me on it. I think you might be right, whoever you are.
- Still, it'll be interesting to see how the closing revelation about Mike reflects his BB character.

You're views on the show are pretty much exactly the same as mine, you are just about 100 times better at putting it into words than I am.

I am really impressed and into the show and find my self just waiting for the next episode. The character development of Jimmy is fantastic, we've gotten to watch him struggle with his old self "Slippin Jimmy" and try to do whats right because of his brother and feuding with Hamlin.

I bet he becomes Saul Goodman at the end of the season, the season finale will be one of his commercials or something.

I really enjoyed it and looking forward to the second season. As it is my assumption that he is going to blow off the offer his lady friend has presented to him and he is going to become saul goodman, just based off of how the season ended and his relapse being slippin jimmy.

Either way I was pleasantly surprised with this show, I had my doubts going in and was entertained and wanting to see the next episode. I have always had some interest in law ever since my two mass comm law classes in college so maybe that makes it more interesting. Either way I'm excited to see where season 2 goes, we need more Mike.

I hope season 2 isn't saul yet, obviously he was saul for a bit before breaking bad, but thats gonna be the last/second to last season when its during BB.

He DID blow off the job opportunity. No doubt he's gonna become Saul now, I just wonder what it was exactly that made him turn away as he was walking up. He was fully prepared for the interview and was practicing his lines, then just had an epiphany. Did he just think, "Oh yea, I'm gonna be a BAD lawyer!" and then turn around? I know his friend's death/chuck's betrayal/true self are all motivating factors for that decision, but I felt they could have made that part a bit stronger.

I hated Mass comm law. Maybe that is because my teacher was a total bitch. But that class sucked.

I think it will take some time for him to become Saul still. I don't think he will be changing his name episode 1 of season 2, but he will become Saul by doing Saul things. Eventually he is going to just make bank off that case he passed to HHM so that will probably catalyst him to the name change and all that.

As far as the finale, I wish it was a bit faster. This entire season has been some serious character development. I wanna start seeing Mike and Jimmy working together and shit happening. I think that when he decided to turn back and not go to the interview he thought to himself similar to how that fat guy thought when he died. He figured out that he is best and the most happy when hes being a criminal.

I think this show is going to focus on good criminals and bad criminals, especially after that speech that Mike gave the nerdy guy doing the drug deal about being a criminal, good or bad. Interested to see where the show will lead to and what will come next.

Also I think the end of the episode when Jimmy leaves and then you see him slowly crack a smile, that seemed like one of the first times in the show he looked actually happy.

From what I rememebr, and I may be wrong, the BB characters will make cameos but wont be main characters, much like Tuco did. He wants this show to be able to stand alone and not have viewers need to watch BB to understand whats going on.

I'm still watching. It was very slow up until last nights episode. He is slowly starting to become Saul, a lawyer who helps criminals stay criminals. I think that things should start to happen from here on out. But you have to remember what this show is about, a lawyer. So it won't be as crazy as a show about a meth kingpin.

I love "Better Call Saul" more than I did "Breaking Bad". Breaking Bad was depressing. I would have never finished it had it never become such a huge hit in the final season(s).

Better Call Saul is a scrappy lawyer tryin to make it. It's funny but he's fuckin MAKING IT! And I'm sure it will get even after each episode.
