What is the right powder ski for me?

Hi there,

Since this last summer I have grown close to 4 inches and am now looking to get a new pair of skis.

Height: 5'10
Weight: 145
Experience: Expert
Age: 16
Riding interests: open powder and tree ski powder

At the moment I am torn between atomic bent chetlers, armada magic j's, armada jj's, and 4frnt crj (I know these are old). Let me know if there are powder skis you prefer over these.

I am looking for skis that I can drop off cliffs and throw tricks on in the deeper snow but still looking for stability.

I am very similar to you in style, size, age and ability, and i myself just got some magic j's, havent ridden them yet but the look super dope and i read up all over and i had the similar before list as you and i came out with these. One thing you might want to consider is are you just skiing pow with these? Because the jj is a better option if you need a little more versatillity. Havent heard a bad thing about the bent's either though.

Love the chets, also throw in the k2 pettitors and with your weight the line opuses would probably be really playful but not too soft

Surface new life because they are probably pretty cheap at some places and they are sweet powder skis

The Pollard Opuses are sick, just so everyone knows I am going to be getting a pair of skis to use as my only ski but I do favor the soft and steep stuff I really try to stay off groomers, ice, and hard pack as much as possible.

Based on that the magic j's would work well for you as the float really well and are fairly playful as well, if you want a smaller underfoot then go with opuses

If you want something a little more versatile then maybe look at the on3p jeffery 114 or line sfb

ive been riding the crjs for a bit now, pm me if you have any questions. they do pretty well all over, super fun to ride. ive written a couple reviews on backcountry, and here on NS

I ride Rossi Soul 7s and I love them. If you wanted something even wider you could look at the super or squad 7. They arent really twin tipped powder skis like some of the others youve mentioned but I can ride switch pow with mine and if you are landing switch in powder you do need to be a tad bit more conscious of what you are doing
