i imagine that if youtube is still around it's morphed into something completely unrecognizable. same goes for pretty much every other somewhat-aged website. apple will just be a bunch of rare still-working iMatrix devices for sale on craigslist (craig operates from an underground base on Mars) (nobody will buy them). car companies will still be the same shit they've been for the last 60 years and will continue to build pathetic crap designed to kill people and the environment they live in for ridiculous prices (for at least another 60). newschoolers will be a word whispered in shacks nestled deep in the mountains for those of us who survived the monsanto incident. pokemon never dies, and it'll be our biggest asset when the aliens land.

Most cable companies I know deal with high speed internet. Unless a new fiber company like Google just completely changes the game. If anything the local phone companies who can't afford to upgrade will be out the door (I work for one and it is a bitch to get funding to upgrade our infrastructure that would keep us relevant)

NotGhoodcable companies, BlackBerry, movie theatres, DVD rental stores


I don't see movie theaters going out that soon. You can watch movies at home but movie theaters still have a bigger screen, better sound and it's something out and about to do. You can drink in your home for cheap but people still go to bars.

Also dvd/vhs(errrmagerd what are those) chain stores have already dipped but there will be stores doing rentals for a long long time. Still lot's of places doing pretty well at it. Now in 50 years when everyones died off and it's all people who haven't even heard of that shit maybe but I still think there will be a few kicking it around in rural areas.

You could put that store next to a world renown sub shop and it would run them out of business. Even if the sub shop has comparable prices.

People are all "OH MY GOD! I LOVE GETTING NO MEAT AND BROWN VEGGIES" "BUT LIKE IT HAS SUB IN THE NAME SO IT MUST BE GOOD" ""I LOVE PAYING ALMOST REGULAR PRICE FOR FAST FOOD QUALITY"

Every time a new one opens I die a little inside. I wish a halfway decent company, even selling out and losing some quality would start to chain out. Put sub in their name or something to stay in business. Offer subs that don't suck. They could have an option for "poverty subs" or something where they put no meat on there like subway and do it for 5 bucks.

How the fuck that place is as big as it is amazes me. I can understand stopping by one on a trip because it's there and maybe a better option than mcdonalds but when people straight pass up on an epic sub to pay the same fucking price for one of the worst it blows my mind.

I agree.. NY (at least lower NY from my own experience) is known for great hoagies.. Whenever I see a packed subway I want to run in there and rant to them how they could get a banging sandwich stacked the the gills for a similar price.

I think it'll take longer than ten years for the NFL to slide into irrelevance. It'll someday be regarded as boxing is today, but it's going to take awhile.

I would say the desktop and laptop computer markets will be significantly smaller in the future. With smartphones and tablets, and the convergence of laptops and tablets, there is going to be much less of a need for the power of a desktop computer.

I don't think 10 years, but not too much longer. Until you are able to download GB/s I will go to the store and get the CD. Downloading 80 GB of a game blows when you are downloading at MB/s.

nah, the industry is fine, the government even backs it up. replacing shitty cheap plastic parts for high prices. car companies have always and will always make cars that break for no reason other than to be fixed.

It really is true, not sure why people downvoted. They're built to be affordable and not for long term durability. If they were they all have stainless bolts and nuts, and not coated carbon steel that starts oxidizing before it leaves the showroom floor. How long does an exhaust last? If it's mild steel it literally eats itself from the condensation inside.

Cars are *sort of* built to last- but not forever though because then we'd never buy another one.

Also no idea how anyone can make- or buy for that matter- a 0 star safety rated car. Insanity.

I agree but also disagree, its a bit complicated, but I don't think the NFL is going to go anywhere. They'll try and deal with the concussion issue their own way by implementing rules that essentially make the game hard to watch. They're just too big to go down. Everyone thought the age of physical football was over after all those lawsuits and that chiefs player killing his girlfriend. They still reign supreme and players continue
to shorten their lifespans every game.

yeah i hear ya, carmakers have to compromise somewhere in order to keep prices competitive i guess. but i dont think theyre designed to break, necessarily. its just an unavoidable consequence of trying to keep cars as cheap as possible.

as for the 0 star safety rating, again I think it has to do with keeping cars cheap in most cases. i think a 0 star is pretty rare though. i think the tata nano has a 0 star but its the cheapest production car in the world, and made in india so the chances of dying on the road are already like 50% there. anything is better than a motorcycle right?

do you know of any late-model north american or european cars with a 0 star? i would be curious to know. my parents have a first generation miata, i think it has a 2 star rating and it doesnt have ABS, traction control, airbags or a roof. all it has are seatbelts and a windshield lol
