Replying to What settings do you guys use for filming? Accessories?

So I've been making videos for a few years now and I want to step up quality and just everything in general.

So what that being said, what settings do you guys use depending on the day, also, what types of filters. Currently I either blow out whites or the ski and I want both looking good but it pisses me off.

My setup is currently the t3i with a 17-40 lens and just a 1x haze filter for protection, should I take that off? Just worried about scratches or is that not an issue? I have magic lantern so any settings with that would also help.
