I'm driving up from Charleston, SC and interested in learning about NC's Ski Mountains/Resorts. Due to the 4-5 hr drive, I'll most likely need a hotel or cabin. I've only been to Sugar Mountain so far, and while I thought it was pretty decent size, I wasn't too thrilled with the crowds or the management.
Which NC resorts do you like and why? Can you recommend on site lodging or a nearby hotel/cabin?
