I'm 19 and still on my parents health insurance. I want/need birth control and am gonna go through planned parenthood but I really don't want my mom to freak out. She's extremely against the idea but to be honest its the best thing I can do for myself and I don't think I have a choice but to go behind her back.
Anyways, if I set up and appointment there and use my insurance it's gonna be documented and they will find out. From what I know, it just tells where you went but it doesn't give a description of what the appointment was for. (If anyone could confirm that that's true that would be great.) I heard that you can call your insurance company have your specific EOB(explanation of benefits) sent to you instead of your parents. Should I do that? Should I just go and let it come up on the EOB thats sent to my parents? Or should I just pay out of pocket?
I can't speak for american health care or anything but I started BC at a pretty young age because I had PDD and really really bad cramps, after starting I never looked back it helped everything, it was never a big deal for me. like Yelsel said maybe start there?
Also if you have skin issues the pill can be good for that. I had a few friends go on it at 14/15 not to have sex but to stop their acne and as other people said their period cramps. It can even apparently help mood swings. If I were you I would go to my parents and say my doctor things that my hormones are unbalanced causing terrible period pain, mood swings and bad skin and she's putting me on a birth control pill to help. And see what they say from there.
Def talk to your doctor about how bc can help regulate periods and help with acne!!! My mom just doesn't want me to get. Pregnant, but my little sister is on it to help curb her acne and stuff.

I was really afraid of my republican Catholic parents finding out I wanted birth control too. (I was about 18 or 19 at the time) I explained it to my mom very rationally and she had no issues, knew it made sense and doesn't give me damn bit of grief. Then she admitted she used the pill as well. Lulz.
It kinda depends on the state as far as payment and shit goes. My IUD in Colorado was free, but my birth control pills in Wyoming were $30 a pack last year.
I'd think you could get the explanation of benefits sent to you if you wanted with a phone call if you were that worried. I'd try talking to them first. I highly doubt your parents are stupid people who don't believe you're having sex at 19. They want what's best for you, it just may take some explaining.
I went downhill mountain biking for the first time ever today. It was shockingly similar to skiing. Except for turning, the hairpin banked turns are weird, but flowing with the longer radius turns and over the bumps and small table tops felt very familiar. I even felt confident enough to catch tiny amounts of air.
I can see how people fall in love with DH, it's just like skiing, only higher consequence since you are riding rocks instead of snow and the trails are ridiculously narrow. Falling seems like it would mess you up really easy. Thankfully I didn't fall but I did punch the railing on the lift offload and I have a massive bruise, seriously my knuckles are swollen and purple, and my calves are all scraped up because of the sharp metal pedals. Did I mention I didn't even fall?
TL;DR: Went DH MTBing, had a blast, seems crazy dangerous (I want to go again), why are DH bikes so expensive?

The whole living in my van thing and I've gotten used to going 2-4 days without a shower. After a month long vacation last summer where i didnt have the best shower access I ended up starting to shower (or at least wash my hair) way less, and its actually not a bad thing to strive for!! My hair takes WAY longer to get dirty now and is just in general healthier I'd say!

Ha. I feel that way about kids in general though, huge mistake. I'll be over here sipping mai tais, traveling, adventuring and being badass instead thank you. It's not like the planet needs any more little humans straining our finite resources anyways. Of course if that's what you really want to do with your life, that's fine too. I just have too many things I'm passionate about (skiing especially) to be able fit in being a decent parent as well. The dumb thing is I think I could almost handle being a father, leave the kiddos at home with the wifey while I go out and shred (I know way too many dudes that do this). But as the woman in the relationship I know I couldn't handle being the one stuck at home with the kids. It may be the 21st century but parenting roles haven't really changed much.

Don't worry it will come to you when you least expect it! I was in the same boat (few years younger but same boat). I graduated from uni last year in something that I wasn't 100% sure about, no clue what I wanted to do the entire time I was in university and out of university, and by a complete coincidence I ended up coming across something that got me SO excited I knew it has to be what I want. I'm taking courses for it online now, and hopefully will be able to still do everything I want to and get into what I want as a career!

Haha yeah kind of how I am feeling. I have a half a degree, maybe even more, so it's just finishing it. I think it will be so satisfying.

I'm not ready to be a mom, but I'd really like to mentor younger girls. I think that being an independent woman, firefighter, and adventurer who has seen some serious shit in life could make me a great mentor. I wish I had someone like that when in was a kid who could show me how to love myself, be proud of my passions and always keep trying. I may work for the boy scouts over the winter cutting trees on their property and I'd really love for girls too see that as well. I want to teach girls how to change their own tires, use power tools, have healthy relationships, run, cook and build things. I want them to take care of themselves so they never have to depend on anyone and have the confidence I never did.
