Backcountry Freestyle Ski

Did some backcountry lasts year and I want to do more backcountry freestyle this year.

I want a ski with camber around the 176-180 length. I want something kinda close to symmetrical or with at least a close to center mount.

I'm about 170cm and 130is pounds

I've consider 4frnt YLE and k2 pettitor and I was just wondering your opinions on this.

I would be mounting with marker dukes.

Bacons are fun but if your looking for something a bit fatter and a bit stiffer I would go with the petitors

Salomon rocker 122. In the 180 length they are 115 under foot so not to wide but the build makes them super light with so little swing weight. This combined with the symmetrical rocker profile makes them super playful while still being really stable. They are not really a charger ski they are a bit light and the turn radius is pretty short but as a fun jibby ski they are hard to beat

4frnt crj are almost symmetrical at 180cm and 126-115-124. The mount isn't that close to center though given it is a park ski.

Well I want to pretty much do it all in the bc if I can...pretty much I want a ski that can do all bc stuff and be close to center mount/close to symmetrical for switch landings and such

What kind of terrain are you usually riding? Stuff or soft ski preference?

All terrain in the bc pretty much...I want the bi-directional ski so I can land switch and stuff but when it comes to what I ski it will be; big lines, cliffs, mellow pillows, trees, and then just charging or cruising around in the pow. And I want a ski that is pretty stiff but that can be playful..but from what I read pow skis are usually prett stiff anyway

There are so many good skis in this category, so I will through out a few that are made very well, and work for the type of skiing you are looking at.

Volkl One (These do not have camber)
Atomic (2015) Bent Chet (These will be more versatile than the pervious years model)

Lots of deals on old Bent Chetlers now. Just because they have changed it for next year doesn't mean the old ones suck.

Start checking sale threads here and on tgr next month, there will likely be some lightly used and cheap pow skis up.

well i want new skis haha...i was asking more for like good site you know of...im familiar with evo and backcountry but i was wandering about other places

Are the 11/12 year same as the 12/13 year? Besides graphics?

Nope. They became slightly stiffer in the 12/13 year, and added carbon fiber stringers. But I still love my 11/12s.

Alright sweet...I'll definitely look into these more..I have to sell my other skis first too, basically I wanted to know if the rocker profile changes but it sounds like it stayed the same

rocker was unchanged. They are a great option for sure as well as the rocker 122. Two great but really playful pow skis

No doubt in my mind k2 hellbent all the way they are centre mounted they have camber underfoot are light and are considered bye pros there go to freestyle backcountry and deep pow ski

Maybe if you didn't take 2 seconds to type that I could understand...but yeah I'll check out the hellbents but k2 skis are prett heavy
