I know there are more brown pow lovers on this site, yah there is pinkbike but lets be honest, newshcoolers is wayyyy cooler. so lets posts our rides, questions about components, mechanic questions etc in this thread.

I just bought this beauty and i definitely sacrificed uphill capabiltiy in order to get a beefier dh/park bike. id been on a nomad for a while and it's a huge switch in riding styles for me. definitely getting used to the weight and having to keep speed a lot more.

specs for said beauty, 2011 rc2 dh totem, 2012 dhx rc4, highrollers front and back (gona go dhf front and highroller in the back), mtx 33 wheel set, slx brakes, diablous cranks, FSA 760mm Handlebar, Shimano SLX Shifter & Shimano Deore XT Derailleur.

Internal brakes suck either way, but imo as long as there’s guide channels it’s not bad.

Exploded my stan's freehub again. Got it new as a warranty replacement and started riding in February. Done with them. That said, anyone blow up hope pro 4 hubs? The price is awesome compared to the chris king or i9 hubs. Or should I just buy big and eat ramen and canned tuna for the rest of the summer?

I have never heard of anyone blowing up Pro 4s, definitely a solid choice and a good budget-conscious option. That being said, I run i9 torch hubs(the 120 POE ones) and they have been flawless so far, and the high engagement helps on the slippery roots that I run into on the west-coast trails I ride. They are pricier, so it comes down to what you value more, but regardless of which you choose, you'll definitely be better off than with stans.

Which one? I have about a season on my NEO hub which I'm thinking about upgrading to the speedsync freehub, and I also just built up a cheap wheelset with an old 3.30 hub.
They seem easy enough to take apart and service, how have they failed in your cases?

I’ve been riding before sun set lately, the temp is nice but the shadows casted on the trail are brutal. Does anyone have a solution to this? Maybe a different type of lens to make changes in light to dark less brutal on the eyes ?

I use my rose lenses. Not the greatest for the sun, but they make the transition easier for me.

Either gloveless, lightweight full finger gloves, cheap thicker mechanic gloves, or light leather gloves in the winter.
I think fingerless gloves are one of the weirdest cycling styles.

Been rocking Black Diamond belay gloves for a couple years now. They're cheap cause I need em anyway and they work well enough.

Clear? I've been using the oakley prizm trail and honestly I think they work very well for enhancing contrast in all lighting situations without actually cutting out too much light.

Just finished up a camping/ riding trip in southern UT so much fun. First two are thunder mtn trail near Bryce Canyon then last one is bearclaw poppy in st George, maybe the most fun trail I’ve ever ridden felt like skiing on a bike with all the different line choices.

If anyone lives in salt lake and wants to ride let me know! Moved here recently and my one buddy who rides broke his foot and is out for the summer. Been going solo which is fun but gets old ya know

If I didn't have super sweaty hands I'd try to ride with no gloves since it has that awesome natural feel. Just get some super thin gloves like the Handup gloves if that's your concern.

Bearclaw Poppy is such a fun trail. It always reminds me of Yoshi Valley from Mario Kart 64 where you have like 15 different routes you can take. We would always camp in that open field by the trail head where the road first gets dirt down that headwall thing. Some great ridiculous times down there.

Nice, very jealous. Did a solo trip down to Utah last year myself, slept in my car for a week or so. I get your point about solo rides getting a bit old over time too, it can be a bit lonely out there in the middle of the nowhere. Did you consider visiting the rampage spots?

So fun down there man, yea I was planning to go to virgin and look for the rampage zone but had something come up and had to head back to salt lake. Pretty easy to find? Poking around on google earth I think I found the general area would be cool to look at it up close

The two rides I got on the XT-12 blew me away. Whenever I finally get fed up with wrangling my GX back into shape, I'm going with that or maybe the new Deore 12.

Yeah. I think I'm gonna go with an SLX/XT mix for max value. It's just so damn smooth, and I'm over having to constantly be tweaking and adjusting my GX to keep it shifting well. It's 2020, I shouldn't have to fiddle every time I ride!

Sick dude,it feels so good to get past mental blocks and make some progression.
I rode my first doubles at the jumps yesterday. I was having a pretty meh session and then this dude who I've met a few other times at the jumps convinced me that I should try the doubles. Sent the first one in the line to feel it out and jumped off to the side, then sent the entire set, which felt so smooth.

Got a big 2000ft descent im building with a buddy. Hopefully finish it in a year or 2. Built this little guy yesterday. Cant wait to get some tires in the dirt.

So is the PNW actually just like a wonderland of guerrilla trailbuilding? Like how do you even decide what trails to ride? How do all of those wood features not get destroyed by the Forest Service? Pretty much the only feature filled trails out here are at bike parks

Curious what you didn't like about the SRAM. My main riding buddy swears by it. Especially his new AXS

Also. I think I just broke my 1x11 XTR deraileur (or at least the lower arm). Does anyone know if I need any adapter parts if I splurge on a the new 12x system? Also XT vs XTR for the potential upgrade? I'll probably just replace the old derailleur, since I'm unemployed thanks to Rona, but I'm serious eyeing the upgrade.
