GarFrom09Ok sweet, I think I will go for the 170 enduro bike I would rather have a little much for some trails but be comfortable on the rowdy stuff, how long would it take to bike from downtown bend to the trails?

TheDoughAbidescan you afford carbon? my tracer (170) weighs ~27 lbs and climbs trails like a champ! a lot of my friends are riding the new slash on mostly trails and loving it!

GarFrom09Ok makes sense, the 170/160 bike was looking at was the commencal meta ax v3, which seems like a okay bike for climbing but amazing on the decends, could you check it out and tell me if you think it would be good for around bend?

cozzeyThis. Bikes on Pinkbike are a steal and while it’s nice buying a new bike, it’s a lot more reasonable to get a nicer used bike for the same price. I was able to get mine off of Pinkbike used as a demo bike for one season for $2000 flat and it’s done everything I need, very high quality bike.

Why buy new? If you have a tight budget, your money will go sooooo much further if you get a used bike. I can't afford to buy new, but thanks to Pinkbike, I picked up a sick custom 2013 Ibis Mojo HD w/ 2016 suspension that came with an extra wheelset for $2200 last year. I also got my DH for $1200 and been rocking it for 4 seasons now. Lots of people on Pinkbike will buy a new bike, customize it, then sell it again the next year for cheap so they can get the newer version.

I definitely should probably buy used but I like the thought of being the first one to ride it and knowing it’s in perfect condition and I won’t find problems shortly after buying it.

.nastyThe cost of fixing any of those supposed problems will still be far less than the difference in buying a new bike versus used haha

.lenconBuying used really is the way to go. It’s pretty easy to tell if bikes have any problems before hand.

If you do buy new, I would say buy an Intense, YT, or Commencal. All are somewhat affordable and greatly built.

GANDALFAs someone who lived in Bend for a couple years and rode everything there all the time, all you need is a trail bike. Even for bachelor. Rode everything on my stumpy and my rip 9. Even whistler. Im living back in bellingham now, and i can even ride everything here on my rip 9.

GANDALFbachelor is a trail bike park. lots of pedaling. not too gnar. being overbiked on bend trails is no fun.

.lenconDope. Just note, if you do go Intense, they kinda run like half sizes compared to other brands in my experience. For example, a medium intense would be somewhere between a medium/large for most other brands. But commencal is great, good luck.

wpskiI got to demo the furious at wp fuckin killer dood. And now they're releasing the clash which is like a furious you can pedal. Very exciting

cozzeyJust cause your buds just got new bikes and are trying to top the other one buy spending the most and having the nicest bike is not a reason to buy a new bike. The money saved from you buying a used bike is worth it and you can probably buy a much nicer bike than them for the same price if you get it 1 year old.

GarFrom09i never said or even thought of trying to buy a nicer bike then my friends, im tired of my xc bike and ready for something that sends, and i never said i wasn't going to buy used at all if i find the bike i want used i will get it but as of right now there are none on pinkbike.

wpskiI've been thinking about it would you guys say the canyon torque is closer to the Enduro or the dh side of the spectrum? 180/175 seems like a lot speaking that most enduros seem to be around 160

My question is if i bought diamondbike should I be worried about durability and such. I dont give a shit if it's not a cool brand. Like I said I'm a newbie so I'm buying used and cheap and going from there.

GarFrom09ive never ridden a db but look at seths bike hacks, hes sponsored by them but he abuses his bikes like crazy and they hold up.

Diamondback seems to make good bikes and good prices. I can get a handrail for 700 or 800 bucks. Any advice from the biking community on NS for a noob.

r00kieDont just any diamdback as they are not all created equal, the cheapos you can buy at like Dicks are crap.

JoeF2661For sure. I'm looking at the diamondback line. It's the middle model in their hook, line and syncer models. All the reviews I've read make it seem like it's a legit entry level bike and for 900 bucks which is more than I would.like to spend I think I'm making the right choice. What's helping me out is affirm, making monthly payments is going to allow me to buy something a little more expensive as I couldn't come up with that amount at.one time for at least another couple months. Being an adult blows sometimes. Fucking responsibilities.
