I know there are more brown pow lovers on this site, yah there is pinkbike but lets be honest, newshcoolers is wayyyy cooler. so lets posts our rides, questions about components, mechanic questions etc in this thread.

I just bought this beauty and i definitely sacrificed uphill capabiltiy in order to get a beefier dh/park bike. id been on a nomad for a while and it's a huge switch in riding styles for me. definitely getting used to the weight and having to keep speed a lot more.

specs for said beauty, 2011 rc2 dh totem, 2012 dhx rc4, highrollers front and back (gona go dhf front and highroller in the back), mtx 33 wheel set, slx brakes, diablous cranks, FSA 760mm Handlebar, Shimano SLX Shifter & Shimano Deore XT Derailleur.

Just pump the rear shock on ur slope bike up to 800psi. Now you have a dj

Ive considered removing the shock and putting a steel bar in instead but then itd be a pretty bulky DJ

On Friday I rode 10 miles on a paved coastal trail, 10 miles of fun variety of XC singletrack, then 10 miles back on the paved trail all in humid, overcast, 60F weather at sea level on a bike that wasn't mine that hasn't been properly cleaned or maintained hardly at all with low level suspension that was set up poorly. Yesterday I rode 8 miles of mountainous singletrack in the heat at 6800' with smoky air but with my bike feeling absolutely dialed on a trail I know like the back of my hand.

These are two very different experiences.

I soak in undiluted simple green for a few hours in the plastic box that the chain comes in, or stick it in a bottle completely submerged and give it a few shakes every 15 minutes or so.

A lil bit of dawn in a bowl of water and a brush and go to town, then rinse, dry, and lube how you'd like.

Edit: or if it's off your bike just blast it with brake cleaner and it'll be squeaky clean in like 45 seconds.

Just deep cleaned my whole bike, hoping metallic pads, a bigger rear rotor and bleed will make these sram brakes feel a bit better. If not imma ask for some deore or SLX 4 pots for Christmas or something

I sent my float X to cascade suspension works in southern oregon about 3 weeks ago and my LBS has not heard from them since. Word on the street is that Jeff the owner has been having health problems. Obviously health is priority over me being able to ride but I'm worried that my shock is lost in space with no way of knowing when I'll get it back. This is really bumming me out because I thought it would be 2 weeks max and now the border is open and I really want to do a trip to squamish. I'm wondering if it's worth throwing down $700 on the credit card for the upgrade and to be able to ride again.

On new bikes I just put a drop of tri flow on each roller then wipe and it usually gets rid of enough wax to keep sand from sticking

Mother of god. Killington has been riding very nicely this year. It’s always been the best in the northeast but this year they’ve done a lot of work to the gondola access trails. PRISFUCKKINGSTINE baby. Very proud to call it my home mountain.


anyone looking for an adventure should try Cable trail up the K-1 express gondola. First part has been all redone and burmed out and the rest is solid DH. A couple of nice 5 and 10 foot drops.

Highland looks really cool, but it’s always got a massive line in videos, trails are full of breaking bumps in all the videos, the hill isn’t that big in all the videos, the trails are all kinda similar from blue to double black in all the videos. Just a outsider view tho

Actually the only real problem with the trails there (aside from breaking bumps) is that there's no progression from the blue jump trail to the black one. You go from smaller mellow tables to steep ass lips and way bigger jumps. After that the progression is great tho.

Depends on the degree and location of said bumps. They’re no good on jump landings. I don’t get that.


Before a large berm I can comprehend and use I for preparation.
