I know there are more brown pow lovers on this site, yah there is pinkbike but lets be honest, newshcoolers is wayyyy cooler. so lets posts our rides, questions about components, mechanic questions etc in this thread.

I just bought this beauty and i definitely sacrificed uphill capabiltiy in order to get a beefier dh/park bike. id been on a nomad for a while and it's a huge switch in riding styles for me. definitely getting used to the weight and having to keep speed a lot more.

specs for said beauty, 2011 rc2 dh totem, 2012 dhx rc4, highrollers front and back (gona go dhf front and highroller in the back), mtx 33 wheel set, slx brakes, diablous cranks, FSA 760mm Handlebar, Shimano SLX Shifter & Shimano Deore XT Derailleur.

Got done with my first ride of the season, hit some phat gaps and drops, overall funnest ride so far and the bike park opens this weekend so I’m super stoked for that.

Illegal trail videos are something I’m normally against unless you have the permission of the builder or are the builder and don’t name it, or location or show clips that could show where it is


The builders are fucking idiots in the first place. If you build an illegal trail and it ends up being ridden b social media crazed shitheads, then you told too many people and deserve to have your trail shut down.

Lmao I did that too, except mine cracked. Luckily I work at a bike shop so I got a deal on a new rim and decided that Cushcore was necessary.

Super good turnout for an evening dig last night. There were like 25 people split into a few different teams, doing some really nice work fixing up some berms that needed some serious work on Leverich. Can't wait to ride it.

Yeah, he rode it afterwards too, I felt really dumb for not bringing my bike because I totally could have fit a lap in afterwards and it is running sooo nice. There is a really interesting alternate line/potential reroute on that one big downhill left berm that has the funky root drop in the entrance. You kinda come up high, push through a tighter left berm and then drop/roll into the larger berm.

He broke his ribs a few weeks ago— he’s just learning how to ride— so I figured he’d bike it to see how it goes.

Woah, huh. That sounds pretty fun. Might have to ride it when I’m back.

I have ‘em. Haven’t used cuschcore, but have a few days in the Tannus in the rear. Not that hard to mount up, even with a DH tire, pretty wild how low of pressures I can run without squirming. All in all it’s been great so far. Waiting on bigger rides to open up before I have more opinions.

Yep, I want to try it on my DH bike and possibly a light version for my Ibis. But I've never liked the idea of adding the extra rotational weight. That was orginally a huge selling point of going tubeless over tubes back in the day, so I'm hesitant to do it for my trailduro bike. Seems counterintuitive from a weight/rolling resistance perspective.

Yeah, quite a few “SeCrEt TrAiL” videos in michaux. Its cool to share trails with others, but if the builders don’t want that and they are secret for a purpose, definitely not cool

Yeah, I think it really depends on what tires you're running. For me, I was flatting EXO+ casings on the rear way too much. So I went to DH casing back there, because that's what was available. But, the weight penalty from going Exo+ to DH is worse than the penalty of adding Tannus to an EXO+ tire. So right now I'm overkilled with the DH tire, and the insert in the back, but once I can get my hands on my rear tire of choice in an EXO+ casing, I'll about break even, and shouldn't get any more pinch flats. But also it really matters what kind of terrain you're dealing with. Like here, in the Tetons, we have weird sharp, square rocks at pretty high speeds, so I've never really torn a sidewall or had a puncture, it's always a pinch flat against the rim. Insert should help more with that. But if I lived somewhere with more roots and steeper trails, I'd probably be less inclined to run the insert.

Anyone ever ride a chinese carbon frame? Heard some good things, a few not so good things. ~$400 for a carbon hardtail frame seems too good to be true but a friend wants to build something lighter than his aluminum bike by swapping parts off the old frame.

I think most the big brands do for original owners, giant trek etc There use to be an insta called 'broken yeti tribe' where they'd post yeti's warranty nightmare stories

Oh from what I had known trek doesn’t do a life time on Carbon same with Kona, or Cannondale I’ll look into that stuff tonight cause I can’t sleep

I could totally be wrong too, lemme know if I am but I think they're pretty good at warranty stuff if it's a defect, i.e. your shit cracks when riding normally. Crash damage is a whole other story so if your shit's beat you may be SOL.

Trek does have a lifetime on carbon frames and a crash replacement program like yeti but treks seems to have lots of things listed about how it’s voided if you modify certain things or change suspension etc. I bet yeti does but it’s all fine print and not listed under big letters on their warranty page

No, but I have the HD3 and my GF has the Mojo 3. Love em both in different ways. Good find. The wait times on their bikes are several months right now.
