I know there are more brown pow lovers on this site, yah there is pinkbike but lets be honest, newshcoolers is wayyyy cooler. so lets posts our rides, questions about components, mechanic questions etc in this thread.

I just bought this beauty and i definitely sacrificed uphill capabiltiy in order to get a beefier dh/park bike. id been on a nomad for a while and it's a huge switch in riding styles for me. definitely getting used to the weight and having to keep speed a lot more.

specs for said beauty, 2011 rc2 dh totem, 2012 dhx rc4, highrollers front and back (gona go dhf front and highroller in the back), mtx 33 wheel set, slx brakes, diablous cranks, FSA 760mm Handlebar, Shimano SLX Shifter & Shimano Deore XT Derailleur.

I was clinging my bike last night and found that an empty roll of plumbers tape is a pretty decent substitute for a dummy hub like one of these.

Idk, if you ride Tiger, especially the new trail, you’re almost guaranteed to get eaten by a cougar.
I heard if you PM Gandalf he’ll valet park you at Galby and show you all the secret trails.
GANDALFPretty shitty tbh. Good luck even finding a parking spot. There are some new trails down at Tiger mountain near Seattle which are apparently pretty fun. Might be worth checking those out instead.

Yep both of these are true. Seattle cougars will get ya. Just offer them an amazon giftcard and a venti mocha and you'll be fine. If you come to galby, i'll shuttle you directly to unemployment line which you can just endlessly lap and you can just stay there for the entirety of your stay.

My friend has had a z1 on his stumpy Evo for a year or so now and has no complaints.
WoFlowzAnyone on here got experiences with the Bomberz2 or bomberz1. Seems like great performance from the price just wanna hear something other than a YouTube review

So theres this state forest near me with the sickest terrain (rock rolls, HUGE rock formations, loamy dirt, etc) and i want to make some new trails because the terrain is kinda going to waste in that area of the forest. How could i go about possibly making a mountain biking association in the region or building legally?

im planning on building some bootleg trails because so many others have done that around the area, but it would be cool to be legal and not risk getting in big trouble

Do some research. There usually is one for most areas maybe not town or county specific. If not find a group of like minded builders and riders and make a plan. The plan is the most important part. You gotta think of everything, climb trails, how to make it safe enough but still fun to be a public trail, maintenance, drainage, have it all mapped out survey wise. Also don’t just build 2 double black trails(Ik it sucks) but it won’t get approved if there isn’t some progression.

Nice, I agree there’s so much potential for new trails here. There’s whole ridges here with good access but no trails. Literally most of the trails here were built illegally years ago and were just adopted into legal status over time. If you wanna get involved with trails, check out Mountain Bikers of Michaux on facebook. I know they do some trail cleanup and maintenance days. They can probably help you in regards to getting legal trails built, keep in mind though it can be a long process. For illegal trails though, don’t build it in a place near main roads, and don’t build on weekends since dcnr rangers are out in force then.

All of the best trails in my town forest are illegal. There's this huge jump line that some "concerned parents" on fb complained about and got taken down, but there isn't really anything they can do about trails. Also, Boy Scouts will have an infinitely easier time getting approval for cutting mtb trails and building features than any MTB association, so if you know anyone in scouts, you could try getting a group of volunteers and a couple scouts to get approval.

Yeah there seems to be plenty of guys making illegal trails so i think thats what i’ll do. I’ll keep the building low key and hopefully all goes well

Bike market insane right now !!! I could sell my current bike for 2x what I paid. But that would leave me with no bike.

It's impossible to find something. I'm seriously considering ditching this sport and taking up climbing for the summer...

It’s amazing how much a little change in bike setup can affect handling. Ever since I got my new bike, I’ve felt terrible at cornering and i’ve tried changing things like suspension setup, tire pressure etc, and nothing worked until I rolled my handlebars back a tad. I feel like a god in corners now

Go tubeless and ride a slightly lower psi. if your on a 200mm fork try to use all but an inch or your travel. If I’m on my enduro rig I try to use about all but 3/4s off an inch or sometimes 1/2.I’m 5’8 and 150 as well

ya i’m already tubeless, might try cushcore to run lower pressures and gain more grip. My old bike was a few years older and now i’m on a long ass commencal meta and the reach definitely does not help with cornering so rolling the bars back was a good compensation.

WoFlowzI don’t but people have a habit of finding my trails. And trail forks tracks you if you don’t click in app only. So I’ve had some of my friends riding them and then the trail show up on heat maps. Not tryna get the better trails IMO shut down


Just don't strava if you're riding unsanctioned trails?? And I'm pretty sure a private strava track won't show up on any heat map, not sure on that though.

Would join an NS strava tho

You’d think people would know better but the ammount of people on the trails that are rich trail clones is insane this year. Lots are full of hikers and bikers, it’s constantly wet then dry wet then dry. Trails aren’t able to hold this much abuse and people are finding the ones I’ve built near other trails. Or ones I’ve helped with.

The new 2022 jeykll is 😍good thing ive found a job this winter and think ive worked something out for the summer.

High pivot with a sprocket, shock built in the frame, long and low with short short chain stays 🥵. Not to mention the purple and how nice cannondale frames are. That’d look so good with a grey zeb ultimate

Let me tell you, i had a helluva time putting on some old super tacky dhfs that werent tubeless ready, i used slime sealant (turns into glue), and flex tape on the rims. It sucked more to take it off after 2 years. Theres so much sticky stuff in my rims its ridiculous

In the past, I've wondered if Crackandfail would ever manage to redeem their brand image. They've sure spent plenty of money trying, but I figured the stigma of making weird bikes with all sorts of proprietary nonsense would probably stick forever.

Apparently not though? The youths are hyped on Cannondale now? Much confuse.

I once tried to service a Cdale with a headshox. I ended up throwing the frame and fork in the air as high as I could to crash back down to the concrete when I found both chainstays cracked.
