I know there are more brown pow lovers on this site, yah there is pinkbike but lets be honest, newshcoolers is wayyyy cooler. so lets posts our rides, questions about components, mechanic questions etc in this thread.

I just bought this beauty and i definitely sacrificed uphill capabiltiy in order to get a beefier dh/park bike. id been on a nomad for a while and it's a huge switch in riding styles for me. definitely getting used to the weight and having to keep speed a lot more.

specs for said beauty, 2011 rc2 dh totem, 2012 dhx rc4, highrollers front and back (gona go dhf front and highroller in the back), mtx 33 wheel set, slx brakes, diablous cranks, FSA 760mm Handlebar, Shimano SLX Shifter & Shimano Deore XT Derailleur.

TOAST.Was hoping to get my wife a mountain bike this year, but unfortunately the bike we've had a deposit on that was supposed to be here in May probably isnt going to be here until next year. It was a giant trance, anyone have a recommendation for bikes that are available online for under 2k? All local shops are empty unless you are willing to spend 4k+ at this point.


What size? I have a few Diamondback Release bikes in stock, and more Diamondback is trickling in. I am also ordering some GT. Might be able to get a Sensor Sport close to that price.

I'm trying to get my own workstand but every time they are back in stock on QBP they are sold out before the order gets placed. At this point I'm nearly ready to just get a cheap one from Amazon.

I just use the bike rack on my car as a workstand. It works ok for most jobs

WoFlowzA like young raccoon was following me up the climb trail making like chirps and whining sounds like I was it’s mother. Was weird af. I left it tho cause the thing was big enough to be scary to get near. Definitely younger tho. Kinda worried now cause there’s a wildlife sanctuary and rehab place only a few miles away. I can’t find anything on their Ig or website about a escaped animal still kinda worried cause it obviously wasn’t close to full grown

Used to do that when I had a toptube mount rack, but now I have a wheel tray style one so I can't really do any drive-train work. I usually do all my maintenance at the Co-op because I prefer using the nice sturdy workstands with the cast aluminum clamp heads which are all mounted onto a big stable steel plate on the floor, but it would be nice to have a decent stand when I need to wash my bike or do some maintenance at home.

The real kicker was that I got a stock notification less than an hour after the shop manager placed the order, and since we're a diy/co-op style shop not a traditional retail/service shop hitting that $600 free shipping minimum to place an order can take a while.

Come to wisco, I rode a trail system built in the 90’s today and it slapped hard. Wisco builders are on their game, Plus the UP. Aaron Rodgers and Rock Solid trails have a heavy influence up here

First time back on the big rig since breaking my neck back in 2019 and couldn’t be more stoked! What a fucking perfect day. Weather was perfect, bike rode perfect and I felt right at home within just a few moments. Obviously taking it a little easy from now on but god it felt amazing to be back! Onwards and upwards.

Or the opposite. I grew up riding trails that mountain bikes were born on, where bikes have been named after many if the trails, but were later made illegal to bikes.

Yes, eagle lineup is nearly 100% cross compatible. The only compatibility issue with eagle is SX and NX cassettes use the Shimano HG spline freehub interface while GX and up use Sram XD

Anyone here ride thunder mountain in mass? That’s my go to mountain in the summer. Skiing the bike trails in winter is hella fun too. Did that this year a bunch after the storms.

sent the gnarliest trail at my local park today, this shit has scared the shit out of me forever but now that I have a legit and capable bike and a reliable homie to tow me it’s east to me now. Definitely not the biggest feature I’ve hit, I’ve done countless sketchy rock rolls, but definitely the biggest drop

Thoughts on knee pads? I’ve been hitting 30plus mph almost every ride on my everyday trails. I ride a little loose and think it might be a good investment to keep my knees from getting torn up in a fall. Or am I just a pussy like skierman tells me everytime I post on this website

Knee pads are good if you're doing anything gnarly. Safety isn't lame

I use ION k-pacts. I really like them and would recommend them to anyone looking for something with great protection and comfort.

I have fucked up both knees this year and the first time was on just a green trail but the berm was a little loose. I wear them all the time now. For lighter stuff i like the 100% Ridecamp and for gnarlier stuff I wear the Fortis

I like the IXS flow zip pads. I think the ones without the zipper would definitely be more comfortable but I like that it is easy to have on my bag for the climb and put on easily at the top. They aren’t horrible to pedal in though

Knee pads are a must have

Elbow pads are for losers tho, you need elbow scars to prove you ride

just wear dirt bike boots and pads, they are so comfy climbing and great protection on the decents!!
