I know there are more brown pow lovers on this site, yah there is pinkbike but lets be honest, newshcoolers is wayyyy cooler. so lets posts our rides, questions about components, mechanic questions etc in this thread.

I just bought this beauty and i definitely sacrificed uphill capabiltiy in order to get a beefier dh/park bike. id been on a nomad for a while and it's a huge switch in riding styles for me. definitely getting used to the weight and having to keep speed a lot more.

specs for said beauty, 2011 rc2 dh totem, 2012 dhx rc4, highrollers front and back (gona go dhf front and highroller in the back), mtx 33 wheel set, slx brakes, diablous cranks, FSA 760mm Handlebar, Shimano SLX Shifter & Shimano Deore XT Derailleur.

Brage's was the gnarliest for sure. But Semenek was ridiculous as well as amazing cinematography which is why I think Semenek deserved the gold. I agree with the judges 100% but I mean it was surely a difficult decision

Semenek does the same thing in every video he’s ever filmed and Brage brought a huge vibe.

I agree but they are judging based on this video, not the riders history or character. Yes I voted for Brage for peoples choice but there's no denying that Semenek had more skill in his video when though Brage did have huge vibe

Do you guys think shuttling is good training for enduro. I get that you need the fitness, but the climbs around me suck. Much worse than any enduros I’ve done. I can only get like 2 laps in before I’m tired. Or should i say fuck enduro and just race dh

enduro is a stage race, only downhills are timed, but there’s usually a cutoff time to complete the race

dh is just one timed run on one track. usually on a little bit rougher trails

yeah i try to go to the gym a few times a week but i think i probably just need to do less strength training and more cardio. also my bike weighs like 39 pounds, it’s a slog while climbing

Don’t let strength training get in the way of your riding, it’s a good supplement but you really should be trying to ride your bike as much as possible with 2 gym days in there somewhere. If that’s the bike you plan to race on, make it lighter or just accept that you’re going to have to get a lot stronger.

Yes. It’s very good. It will be less good this summer since they’re not running swiftly, but everything off Ramcharger would keep me pretty happy for a day, and even just a mountain to meadow lap is worth the drive from Bozeman. Do it.

My homies pretty much make a trip up there every summer from Jackson, usually in a crew of mixed abilities. Everyone has loved it, and I think there’s some super rowdy lift accessed as well as some more enduro style stuff. Haven’t heard a single bad thing about it and some of my sendiest downhiller friends make a point of getting up there once a year.... never been but I think it’s pretty dope.

The Mountain to Meadow and Music in the Mountains combo is the best way to spend a Thursday evening in the summer. I usually try to go directly from work to Big sky and be on trail by 6:30 at the latest to time it well.

Inventory is absolutely FUCKED for the resst of the year, at minimum, especially bigger companies (which I'm less interested in anyway)... BUT I'm ridiculously excited about the smaller companies I'm talking to right now for the new shop.

Any advice on used bikes I should look for? I currently ride a hardtail dirt jumper which I've had for 15 years and I love it, but the Medium frame feels a bit cramped and my riding is a lot more trail heavy and less jump oriented than it was 15 years ago.

As cheap as possible (max. 2K CAD) I do flowy trail riding and some lower speed technical stuff, small jumps and drops and light freeriding.

polygon vander is a great deal and it’s new. You might be able to get a higher spec of something else for the same price from pink bike or fb market place. I love my dads cannondale habit if you can find one used for a good price. My polygon vander has been great for the price tho

Options as I see it:

1. Spend that money on a nice, used hardtail. You'll get a lot more for your money.

2. Save up til you can spend $3k CAD for a used full suspension

They all fit differently. And I don't mean model to model. Certain brands fit differently too. Try on some models and see what fits you. Get something with MIPs or a proprietary version of it.

Everyone makes a good helmet these days, and what they don't tell you is that they all have to pass the same safety standards. Some more expensive ones exceed those standards better than others though. But It's more about what fits your noggin.

One of my biggest complaints about the pandemic is how it affected interactions with passerby on multi use trails. It used to be nice saying hello and small talk while passing hikers. Partly since it’s a good thing to do, but where I’m at people don’t like bikes very much so I also saw being nice (instead of blowing by or being dismissive) as a way of giving them a good impression of the cycling community. Now people just pull their mask up and run into the woods on the side of the trail and ignore you. Masks don’t make you mute? The fear level while out in the woods seems so unnecessarily high. Has anyone else noticed this shift? And don’t get me wrong I’m not trying to denounce the severity of any of this. Just disappointed in how things have become.
