My bindings were mounted completely wrong

Long story short I asked the guys at the shop I go to for my park skis to be mounted dead center. I didn't look them over like I should have because it was the middle of the season and I just wanted to get out and ski. Today I brought them inside to put a sticker on and I realized they were a good 2 inches off center so that was messed up. And I realized they're backward. Yeah, my bindings are on backward. What should be my nose is actually my tail. It's about a cm wider at what is my current nose and i always thought the tail should be a little wider. I might be wrong about that but I'm wondering if they can be remounted. I've skied my whole life and never heard of remounting bindings but a guy I ski with said they can do that. I would think that would be bad for the ski but I don't know. Could I have that done? I bought 2013 k2 empress's and I got the last ski in my size at the shop and I can't find them anywhere else on the internet so buying new skis isn't really an option...am I fucked or can I do something about this?

bingo.

i draw a line with a sharpie and write on a piece of tape "mount point".
i also write tip and tail on tape pieces so the newbs know which way is up.
never ever ever had an issue.

if the tech gives me the "im not retarded" look, i explain that i have had some skis absolutely butchered.
majority of time they appreciate the simplicity and not having to determine what the fuck you want done to your skis from a scribbled on shop work order.

OP, sounds like you have no idea what you're talking about and the shop mounted them properly.

As many people have mentioned, there are different "centers" on a ski. Skis are almost wider in the tip. You probably don't ski or land that much switch and will enjoy the core center mount that you actually asked for.

On my old pair of chronics the shop mounted them set back two inches like yours. I had them remounted dead center like I asked them to do originally. Next weekend did a switch three landed in the back seat and right where the binding holes had been plugged the ski broke. Shop wouldn't do anything about it so good luck homie

wow your skis were probably shot after like the third mount unless all you ski is groomers. Also never mount you skis by yourself, if you are a centimeter off, it fucks the whole ski.

This happened to me before. Go back and get them mounted properly (for free obviously), and then ask for a credit to their store to buy some new goggles or something. They're dicks! The dude was probably baked and shit. Good luck.

So any updates on this? Would like to know how the conversation at the shop went. It has some potential for hilarity.

While in you're in the shop take a look around at all the skis. Are you wondering why they are all displayed upside down?

Im the GM of a shop that does a lot of mounts. My advice to park skiers is to get in the habit of measuring and marking your own boot center mark. Factory lines are often wrong, especially if its part of the graphic. Take a couple minutes to measure the center of the effective edge, then mark it with masking tape and marker. No shop tech will screw that up and they'll have a ton more respect for you.

Ill share my story my moms bindings where mounted wrong and set wrong and she ended up hurting her knee. They where 3 cm to far back and the forward pressure was all out of wack

this. and you dont even need to use masking tape, just use a sharpie- it comes off SUPER easy with a little rubbing alcohol.

Do your own measurements. Even if you want them mounted at recommended, mark where recomended is on the skis with lines, arrows and words. then when you pick your skis up from the shop click your boot in and confirm that the midsole(where the marking is) lines up with your own mark. IF it doesnt, TELL them to do it again for free, and demand some type of compensation for them destroying 1/3 of the skis resale value. (if you are good you can argue its 1/2 of the resale value- they did use 1 of the 2 remaining remounts).
