I'm with this dood. FUCK DEVIN LOGAN. Major bitch has no right to say shit like that about anyone. Halfpipe skiing wouldn't be where it is without dudes like Tanner. And just because she doesn't see the evil and the corrupt-ness of FIS doesn't mean that she can call Tanner bitter for not making the Olympics (even if he is).

And yes... She is fat.

Tanner is fucking pissed. I totally agree with him, but the people at vice probably do this to a lot of people the do stories with, and we just don't know because we don't know all the history of the subject. They are media and it makes it a lot more interesting to %90 of there audience if there's some sort of feminism controversy happening. It sucks but I think we should have seen they would try to do this.

Tanner is and always will be awesome. How can you not respect a guy who says exactly what he wants , when he watns, and how he wants. He doesn't give a rats ass about what people think he knows the real freeskiing community has his back anyways.

i just cant think of any big mountain or backcountry movie companies. oh yea ever heard of tgr? does sweet grass productions ring a bell? and even most "park" ski movie companys are throwing in pow scenes.

I agree the doc was not on par, especially not by the standards I see vice achieve in pretty much any of their other content they produce.

BUT ask yourself, who funded vice to do this

Had no idea Devin Logan was on Armada (cause who the fuck cares about Devin Logan???) but she definitely does not belong on the team after disrespecting one of the founding members like that.

The fact that Tanner still slays like he does after HOW MANY broken bones and torn ligaments - truly savage and shows how deep his love for the sport is. So many people would give up and move on after what he's been through. I'm sure Devin would probably give up skiing and take up hot dog eating contests if it happened to her.

WTF it's an online documentary. There is no "bonus section"....


But I totally agree with Tanner. Maddie and Wallnuts were the only interesting part of that documentary. The way they cut Tanner's parts made him look like a bitter idiot who was jealous of the youngsters when he's really a grateful, positive guy who just wants to shred the shit out of the mountain and have fun while doing it without a coach telling him how to tweak his pinky finger ont hat grab to get that extra rotation and land the switch 1440.

Vice did royally fuck this episode right up. It has little to do with the history of the sport, it has like little 17 female park slut Devon fucking login talking shit about tanner, it’s fucked, I’ve never been so angry at a video, I wish VICE would take it down and try again....

Yeah, dude has a right to critic the olympics. I mean, I understand how you feel about it and want to make the team and get a medal, whateverthefuck, but don't rag on a guy for his opinion about the sport. He's far from burned out.






....and the fact that I had to even say something like that right there is why this doc was soooo disappointing to me. freeskiing is so much better than how it was portrayed. It made us out to look like petty fucking haters!

All this documentary accomplished was to make me think women's freeskiing is an even bigger joke than it already was.. Devin Logan needs to learn how to ski before she criticizes skiers that have 10x her ability and on top of that, she's fat.

I actively try to disagree with Tanner and I don't like him, but he's a pillar of freeskiing and still crushes it. I love his segment in Retallack, he sends it so far. I would totally agree if Devin gets kicked off Armada and I think she's not even a representative of competitive skiing- not even athletic.
She can't match Tanners 2002 X Games run yet. AND she's paid to ski EVERY SINGLE DAY
Maddie and her talking shit is a joke. Watch when Lisa and Kelly and Maggie Voisin get dialled and kick them out of skiing forever

Wow... I may not share Tanner's opinion on most aspects of modern free skiing, but I have to say Devin was way out of line there. Like way way. Even if she was a great athlete she would have absolutely no business publicly calling out someone who progressed the sport as much as Tanner did. That's unprofessional. Tanner at least had the grace not to mention any names.

The fact is that she isn't even a great athlete. She is seriously out of shape and based on her sketchy 5s and missed grabs she doesn't seem to have particularly good coordination. Watching her take a shot at Tanner on camera just made me embarrassed for her and the way she's portraying our sport.

Luckily she said loads of other stupid stuff in the documentary (like dissing Maddie for taking her education seriously, which is something all athletes should do). Hopefully no one will take anything she said after that point seriously...

Regarding the documentary as a whole:

I think the title was misleading. It should have been called "The Current State of Free Skiing" or something like that. I think the title and the hype about Vice led to ridiculously high expectations that weren't fulfilled.
After reading this thread and only then watching the documentary, I actually enjoyed it. Expectation management is a real thing.

I might not agree with any of the rest of you here (those saying she's fat/out of shape/etc - I mean, that's just stupid crap that makes us look worse by saying that, guys) but when it comes to what she said about education? LOL what a fucking joke.

Gives Maddie crap for taking school seriously and not partying all the time, and then disses Tanner for not finishing high school? haha. Okay, chick.

Overall, that doc had way too many personal issues that totally convolute what the history is behind the sport. It took a typical fucking approach to showing Tanner being a joke, even though he's far and away the most successful guy we can name (nobody else can claim they have utterly owned and dominated both disciplines, while also absolutely crushing the "real skiing" segment of the sport)

Get over it, he smokes and says shit that isn't always the most professional thing to say. He works extremely hard, he does what he wants, and then he skis better than you could ever dream.

All i've learned from this is that Devin is a fucking joke, trying to make fun of tanner for not going to the Olympics when woman's freeskiing shouldn't even be allowed. They are trash no matter what everybody else thinks, well most of them any way, i'm tired of seeing her throw a "cork 5" flail with holding a grab for a millisecond. She learn to fucking ski before calling others out, epescially those who could beat her in anyform of skiing.

how much more full of shit can this punk get? at 16 he did not create freeskiing. he was a mogul skier and saw the Canadians were doing up on the glacier in Whistler and jumped aboard.

i agree, vice usually gets into the nitty gritty. I was honestly expecting a really cool story on the roots of freeskiing, with people like mike d or the olenicks getting fucked up and chucking themselves off shit, its expansion through the internet (early twall days), and then up to today. It really was just a boring rider profile that did not showcase freeskiings "rise" or whatever they claimed it did. Big disappointment.
