Also we tailed someone with a 4bi9 sticker on the way out.

Matt_DDo any NSers bring kids to festivals?
louie.miragsIf anybody here is a fan of festivals, ya gotta check out an edm festival. Still can't stop thinking about how much fun Mysteryland was and I would have never thought that before this past weekend. Of course I would have traded the weekend to see moe. jam out to their new songs at Summercamp... but, Mysteryland was fucking epic.
theabortionatorScamp has been on a downward slide but it's still sick. Let me know if you ever decide to go out there and want the scoop. If you like moe. and umphreys it's worth it. Lots of both bands. Kind of pissed that I missed this year and the weather was actually perfect.
You gotta get to wakarusa sometime. IF you ever hit scamp you should hit those 2 in a row. I might do them again next year if you wanna carpool.
I can't believe I haven't seen anything outside of small bar shows since NYE, and only a couple that were any good. I suck at music this year.
I might hang around long enough to catch the Saranac shows next month. Actually even toying with the idea of staying till phish spac. IF you go to the brewery hit me up.
louie.miragsDo people camp for the Saranac shows? I'm sure there's a spot close by but is there a spot a lot of people go to?
theabortionatorNot really. I'm sure there are campgrounds around. In 2010 we got all kinds of fucked up and camped at a ski area in utica. We tried to go into the woods so cops wouldn't see us. I fell down a ledge ripped my tent. IT poured and there were insane amounts of slugs. Like 10+ in each shoe. My buddy was still finding them in his car long after.
PLenty of hotels though. The redroof, scottish in area is where a lot of people stay for saranac shows. Not too pricey that I remember. There's probably camping somewhere not too far away but I don't know anything off hand. Those hotels are right next to a denny's and easy cab distance.
There's a lot but bring other containers just in case. You can drink in the lots, not that big of a deal but there are a good amount of cops so it's not bad to be careful.
If you're broke go anyway because you can see the stage and here crystal clear from outside the fence. I might save my pennies this time.
Also 4 for $10 on beers. I'm not a big saranac fan but I dabble when I'm there.
-benedettoThey weren't but word to what Louie said. I had 0 experience with EDM prior to this and oh man, we fucking raged! Fuck real life.
louie.miragsThanks for the scoop.. i may go because i cant wait for moe.down and maybe a night at gathering of the vibes. I would have went to the album release party if benedetto didn't have class
louie.miragsThe new moe. album is awesome! I really can't wait for moe.down and a night at gathering of the vibes!
theabortionatorFuck man. You're going to vibes? So fucking jealous. Really one of the best lineups of the last decade.
Biscuits, panic, moe., umph, and sooo many others. Lineup is stacked. Headliner after headliner.
Rage the biscuits set for me.
louie.miragsHa I will man.. I'm going to go the night moe. performs. The hudson project is too close vibes for me to camp at both and I already got my weekend pass to THP.
connecticuntI don't really know how I'm going to survive camping and volunteering at both and working 9 hours a day almost every day in between. But the line ups for both are so good I definitely couldn't miss out on either

cool_namereally want to
louie.miragsYeah the lineups are awesome! I'm so stoked for THP I cant contain it. I was already so amped for THP, but after mysteryland and my first edm experience I'm 100x more excited. Moby and bro safari killed it at ML and I'm excited to see bassnectar for the first time. And of course I've been waiting years to see Modest Mouse. At THP look out for mine and benedetto ' s peace American flag above our ezup.
connecticuntI've seen MM three times and Isaac has absolutely killed it at every show. I'm definitely with you on nectar too. I almost went to basslights last year but I couldn't find a way to overnight a couple days after christmas without costing me a small fortune. I'll definitely look for it! I usually fly my tie dye "special k" flag but I might be making a new totem for this year so I'll keep you posted
-benedettoI could probably research the answer but I'll just ask. Me and Louie have decided we're most likely hitting the whole vibes. He works mon-Friday so we'll get there a little late Friday but my question is, can ya reenter the festival like visit your car? I ask because on Sunday night, we'd pack up, throw everything in the car then leave Sunday night. At mysteryland, they had no re-entry so it makes leaving Sunday night a real hassle. Thanks in advance!
theabortionatorAt vibes you can. Vibes is a normal car camping fest. You pull into a spot and then set up your tent right next to your car. You have to enter the festival part through a gate to get to the stages where they check your wristband, and for beers but that's it. You can go back and forth as you please as long as you have a full fest pass not a single day ticket.
-benedettoOh shit, didn't realize it was car camping. Only car camping too?
theabortionatorI'm not sure. I know they have vip, volunteer, family, sober, all on the other side. Not sure if there's a tent only area.
Vibes is kind of weird. It seems smaller than it is. Maybe the way it's broken up. You can end up walking a long way if you get parked way out there. It's not terrible but it can be long. Also you have to walk the road to the point and enter the stages there vs. just jumping in from the edge of the campground.
It's not as bad as bonnaroo or the old all goods but it can be rough to catch that late night set and make it back. Also last time I went there was a some rain the one day and I was too lazy to walk across the fest to catch a short set in the rain.
If it's hot and you go swimming wear a condom. Can never be too safe.
Matt_DI was considering doing Boardmasters and I'm planning on Bestival. I've just heard Boardmasters has quite the cornish heavy drinking crowd. Bestival should be sick. Just bought my tickets for...
There is nothing wrong with abit of cornish heavy drinking culture...but if you're more into the substance side there is more than an abundance of it floating around.
Really looking forward to bestival though, seems like a pretty cracking way to round off the summer. it'll only be 3 months till skiing starts again after it.
theabortionatorI'm so jealous. We gotta rage sometime. Maybe next spring I'll see what ya'll are hitting.
I can't believe I'm not even doing 1 fest this year. Maybe I'll run into you guys in the fall or nye shows.
Rage on! Post some stories to make errbody jealous.
