I understand with budgets and such they can't do it but I wish we got to see more of the big battles on screen rather than "it starts... now fade to black.... see aftermath"

Well my issue with GoT is that they have a very large number of characters which are all followed very closely, if you are just a casual watcher it is near impossible to follow. GoT is shot and produced extremely well, its an HBO show. That in itself means that you can trust that its made to a standard. I love GoT but sometimes it just kind of drags on without high points of action.
Like I said, I am a big GoT fan and watch every episode day of release. By no means take this as a "GoT isnt good" or something.
Now on to vikings. The show is produced by history channel... they have been notorious for creating absolute garbage the last few years. They focus on stupid reality shows rather then the historical programing they used to run 24/7. The entire show follows the story of Ragnar Lothbrok... a real historical figure (at least in norse mythology) today I found myself captivated by norse history and probably went over a good 50 wiki articles learning about stuff. His two wives, his sons, and nearly every main role is actually in their history. Fucking badass.
The fight scenes are absolutely phenomenal, much better then the GoT knight in shining armor stuff.
Vikings are some of the most under-appreciated figures in history, this show really captures their intensity and awesomeness. Its definitely not for everyone and I could imagine many would still like GoT more.
I personally have watched 15 episodes in a matter of days, something that I could not do with GoT.
I recommend giving it a chance and checking it out, if you like it, right on. If not, whatever, its just a random show

I thought the episode was amazing. The whole trial was really well done, specifically Tyrion's part. I couldn't get down with the Dreadfort scene though. Just saw is as very unnecessary but it didn't really change anything in the end.
Previews for episode 7 looked really good, especially the Eyrie scene.

Can we just talk about how wonderful Peter Dinklage was in the trial scene? I always thought he did a great job with the character but I never reallllly believed his acting sometimes ...I think it was the fact that he occasionally struggles with a British accent.... but in that last moment some new, animalistic hatred just tore out of him and it was awesome.
I can't wait to see how they go about the trial by combat, not going to spoil anything for non-book folks but it's going to be off the chain. Fuck yeah.

It's going to be awesome. I was hyping it up so much to my friends who haven't read. It's going to be awesome to see some of their reactions when Tyrion's champion is revealed. The actual fight won't be until the 8th episode though.
Am I the only one that doesn't get the whole trial by combat thing? So in other words, if you had the biggest badass in the world standing behind you, you could never get convicted of any crime and you could do whatever you wanted? Just seems unbelievable to me. Yah pretty much, essentially you're "letting the gods decide" as Tyrion said. People have to allow it because otherwise your essentially saying the gods judgement is wrong.

Seriously! I've been wondering what the fuck happened there.
After this episode I am certain Dinklage is getting a shit ton of awards for this season, both his conversation with Bronn and with Oberyn were amazingly acted. The look on his face when Oberyn says that he'll be his champion is perfect.
The episodes are so well put together and end so damn suspensefully. Honestly there is so much material to cover and the producers are killing it. I am so satisfied with everything right now because I was pretty critical about their depiction of the Others but right now everything is so on point.

The Oberyn scene was perfect. I felt like they could have given Lysa's death more drama, and I'm not sure why they changed the payoff line from "Only Cat" to "Your sister", though. That scene was basically made for TV and they didn't botch it but they punted a bit.

man..... the fight of the two champions is going to be unreal, especially if you know the background of what happened between them. (I didnt read them, but my friends super in to it and gave me the background)
Also, was watching with my friend last night, and from the moment they kissed in the courtyard I called exactly what would happen and even called that it would end right after. Felt like champ.

Fucking heartbreaking. I knew what his response was going to be, but to see it played out was awful. You can see how hard it is for Bronn to walk away. Dinklage just turns up the dial each week. Can't wait until episode 10.

The Your Sister line bothered the fuck out of me. It's one of the more resounding and memorable lines that are like " Wherever Whores Go" and "Like This!"
I really dig Oberyn and I'm not sure why. Anyways i hope he whoops the Mountain whos recast i don't like. the first Season 1 Mountain was fucking terrifying. This one is too.. friendly looking in comparison.
