All I hear people say is "Oh dude you wear all that Oakley tanner Hall shit yet you can't even do rails." I'm fairly me to skiing (about a year now) and I want to start freestyle sooner rather than later. But I always get criticism about the shit I wear. Does anyone here really think this shit is important? I like the jacket and stuff I have because I like how it looks, it was not intended to reflect how I ski in any way. This is the type of shit that really pisses me off. Anyways let me hear your opinions NS.

It shouldn't but IN GENERAL, someone with lets say a saga jacket will MOST LIKELY be better than a kid rockin an LL bean. but of course, this is all subjective

I agree, people who are actually good at skiing wear the better looking clothing. But, I don't think just cause I can't do any good freestyle tricks I should be criticized because I prefer to wear better looking clothes.

it kinda reminds me of using a deep sea fishing rod for fishing in a tiny pond.. just not the appropriate equipment. but if you wanna spend tons of money on all your gear for your first year of skiing nobody is stopping you.

Outwear look doesnt change much. Having a friend that is constantly wet because his 600$ jacket and 400$ pants are made from cotton and never shuts the fuck up about it change the ride experience.

OP definitely understand what you mean. But anyone can just go out and buy a cool looking jacket. You should focus on bettering yourself and progressing. The clothes you wear can't do that for you. Think about why you want to free ski in the first place. It's not a fashion contest although some tend to think it is.

Ignore that stuff, its not important, just have a good time wear what you want and what keeps you warm.
Plus, more than half the people that will tell you somethings wrong with how you dress cant even do stuff themselves, they just say it to try and make themselves sound better. Just go have a good time

Completely depends on why you buy that nice jacket or this year's skis or whatever. If you buy it because you like it and you want to shred in what makes you feel comfortable, then go for it. If you buy it to pose, people will call you out.
People will still mis-judge and call you out whatever YOUR reason for wearing it, but they've misread your reasons and/or are a bit of a dick so don't worry about what they think.

Good skiers will almost always dress good. If a bad skier dresses good it makes them look like a poser.

I personally dont care, in fact i love all the dudes who suck at skiing but wear sweet as gear. Gives me something to lol at in the line when they cant maneuver their skis in the line. nubs

Doesnt change the fact that they look like posers though

What's the difference between me having nice clothes for when I was good at snowboarding and having the SAME clothes for when I started skiing. Skills shouldn't limit my choice in clothing. There's no direct correlation between the two.

I didn't say it was a fashion contest. I had the choice to get what I wanted for clothes and I chose the Tanner Hall stuff because I liked the way it looked. I'm not trying to look better than anyone else. And I am focusing on bettering my skills more and more each day. But am I not aloud to look good while I'm trying my hardest to get better?
