Parents not letting me ski

My parents decided that they would not let me ski until I finished all of my college applications. Well i didn't expect my home resort Crystal Mountain, WA to be open so early. Although they have hardly any snow, i'm still dying to go up. I have till the end of december to finish my 6 other applications. (2 exceptions end of Nov). They are being dicks for not letting me do my favorite thing in the world.

Conclusion is I need to get someone to pee in their butts.

How should I deal with it? (besides by submitting to their demands)

Anyone else on NS come across a similar problem?

I don't get why you need to apply to so many colleges and I don't get how on earth it would take you a month to do them..

Most schools have a deadline for applications that is close to November or December so you should have them done anyways if you care about the school. Also, and more importantly, listen to your parents and just finish your apps kid.

Either do your applications or just go skiing. Unless your a child genius I'm guessing you're probably 17. Seems like you're old enough to make your own choices. If not just do the applications NBD.

Really seems pretty straight forward.

same thing happened to me but my parents also told me to get a job on top of applications or else i couldnt ski. so i stopped being a lazy ass and got my ass up and got shit done.

I'm in sortof the same situation you're in. Just get the apps done and then you can go to a good college, get a good job, and make enough money to do the thing you love for the rest of your life. Missing a couple weeks of preseaon chunder isn't the end of the world. You'll thank your parents later in life.

Depending on where you're applying to, the fact is that your applications for undergrad are relatively inconsequential in the long run. I don't know if that is a great argument for your parents, but it really is the truth. Also, I would like to say that for myself, college applications were on me and my parents didn't really give a damn whether where, (or whether for that matter) I went or not. Your parents not leaving it up to you is the ultimate problem here. If you can't get motivated enough to do it yourself, then that definitely means something.

My parents wouldn't let me go sking if i didn't have 80s in all my classes. At first i was really pissed but then i got 80s. I had 1 class with a 79 right before christmas break. I couldn't ski at all. Now i get high 80s and 90s cause that shit sucked

Honestly regardless of what your parents say, you really should get those done before you hit the slopes anyway. Idk what the big deal is- just do the apps and then go skiing. Don't be a child about it

in the real world when you have to survive on your own...stuff sucks. YOU have to take out the trash. YOU have to do your laundry. i always did these things but i take it this kid doesn't he seems like hes given a lot. try affording a season pass, all your gear, gas, bills AND school. you do just school right now. good luck sport

They will have bigger fish to fry than your college applications and will stop giving you shit about that.

Make sure you tell them you got the stuff from someone not ski related though and are self medicating due to the anger you feel from not being able to ski.

Your part of whats wrong with society putting forth this be all end all idea that everyone needs to go to college and work a high paying 9-5.  You think a company will allow someone to go to a ski area on a paid business trip?

Hey, its not easy out there for people who go down another path but plenty of us do.

In the United States new employees don't even get more than 2 weeks a year vacation.  Better not book yours for a week the snow sucks. 

With your attitude though get ready to enjoy standing in lines on Saturdays and find yourself locked into a life where your monthly bills are ginourmous (assuming you want to live near your high paying job and drive a similar car to work as your high paid coworkers and have the other luxuries high paid people do.)

I did all mine in one night, except for one (had to write a few essays for it). Conclusion is they don't take long at all, just get them over with and go enjoy some snow, man.

It takes like an afternoon to do the applications, just finish it you're going to have to do them at some point anyway, save your energy for skiing and applications rather than fighting your parents over this.
