I'm looking into picking up a generator for this winter to run some lights and i'm a bit unlearned on the subject so i was hoping one of you guys with some experience could give me some advice. Canadian tire has a sale on right now, $250 for a 1500/1200W generator.
My questions for you guys:
-Is this wattage enough to run sufficient lighting to get decent footage in a dark setting? If not what sort of wattage should i be looking at? by my logic this should be enough to run 2 stands of 500W construction lights (4 bulbs total, correct me if i'm wrong)
-Thoughts on buying new vs used? most used ones on the local classifieds around here run from 225-500, and most have wattages between 2000-5000. My intuition tells me getting a new one might be more reliable + warrantee if it breaks down...
-Is this a reasonable price or should i wait and see if a better sale comes up? keep in mind i'm in canada and getting one shipped from the states is probably not a very feasible option
-Any advice on what kind of lights to run? I was looking at some 500W construction light stands with 2 adjustable bulbs per unit
Any other thoughts/advice/wisdom you can bestow upon me would be awesome.
