2013 volkl wall

Two things,

1. How is the base? I believe it's sintered right? All i want is a faster base than i have now (OG disorderlys beat to shit). Yes i'd maintain it.

2. 169 length, if anyone has them, how long are they actually? I'd like a ski around 171 or so but 169 to 171 isn't too different but I think the next size is too big for me (177). maybe not though, i'll have to go to a store and stand on some 177's.

And I've heard of durability with the walls so i'm not worried about that, right?

1. Being Volkl's flagship park ski designed for competition, I would hazard a guess and say it does have a slintered base. I would just shoot Volkl a message and get confirmation on that. 2. Volkls do run a little short, so I'd take the 177s over the 169s if you want it to ski mid-to-low 170s.

177 walls are around a 169 k2, their edge durability is shit, I have maybe 30 edgecrackz between both skis. But they are very durable other than that. Great skis

i mean, of my time on NS i've seen every ski have shitty edge durability but I'll take it into consideration cause i'm
1. in jersey so rail central
2. occasionally do some silly urban type stuff
3. am a rollerblader so grinds are my grind.

also they're stiffer than I like (hand flexed a pair) but i'd get over it i think.

my walls are beat to shit. and still kicking. the 2011 model

they have a ton of edge cracks, but no edge pullouts except were i really, really, fucked the edge. i've had some problems with tip delamination, but they seem to be holding up with the advent of epoxy and a healthy dose of duct tape.

i'm pretty sure that although they are symmetrical in sidecut, volkl walls do not have a symmetrical flex, meaning that they are stiffer in the back than they are in the front. but they are a little too stiff to butter around on all day. they ski like a very very solid performance ski.

i hope that helped you. i love mine to pieces, and am still using them as my urban performer

I dont own the wall but i do own a pair of 13 steps. Their whole park line have sintered bases. They have the same construction as the step and i've been riding mine for about 30 days this season because of an injury but ive had no problems with them and the rebated sidewall construction holds up well with only a few topsheet chips. I've not had any problems with the edges apart from a ding which i brought on myself. The only thing i would complain about the construction is that the sidewalls are a little soft, i chopped them up a fair bit just doing grabs and with the edges catching the other ski.

yeah my disorderlys have lots of those sidewall chips, they're soft as well. I'd just fix it if that happened.
