this site is kinda confusing. i mean, the chargers' playoff chances go up by 0.2% if the falcons beat the panthers?

seriously, i am kinda big on maths, probability and statistics and all that and i might be missing something really interesting here, but i just dont know how the fuck they come up with this number.

yeah, that was actually easy. strength of schedule. but if it comes down to that tiebreaker, its fucked up anyway. its behind strength of victory, which the chargers have the leagues best (that just means that they are an up-and-down team that occassionally will beat a good team and arent finishing bad teams all that much).

fuck im stupid for thinking there couldnt be any correlation though.

anyway, generally, if head-to-head, (minimum of four) common games, conference games wont bring you there, go give them an extra game to duke it out. idk where there would be time for it, but it just sucks to have it come down to SoS, SoV and all that other shit, including net TDs and coin tosses. pretty sure it was never needed to go beyond the first three or four tiebreakers, i am just saying it would suck

I'd say rivers he torched the chiefs in the first game and the chiefs aren't going to play their stars for very long if at all. The risk would be that the chargers may be eliminated from playoff contentions before kickoff

Seahawks Defense is looking nastier than ever. Missed a couple would-be interceptions, but aside from that, stellar.

Luke Willson going down could be a big impact going into the playoffs...hope not though.

Offense looks decent aside from the O-Line leaving a lot of holes.

All in all, I'm satisfied with the play. Can't wait for the playoffs. Hope we can score another touchdown, or two. But, Go Hawks!!

Oh yup! I was there today. I'm going to both games if they get that far and I get payed to be there which is prime because I basically watch the game and get paid for it but I have to work a couple hours before each game.

take away the automatic 3 points for homefield and vegas likes the chiefs which I was kind of surprised by. SF as road dogs was also a little bit surprising.


hard not to sound bitter about a call in a meaningless game for us but theres no way the chargers should be in the playoffs

obviously as a chargers fan, i am pretty stoked about being in the playoffs, even though it happened in such little convincing fashion.

but people forget a few things:

1) these backups have as much to play for as anyone. bigger contracts, more playing time. its their time. they were motivated.

2) they werent put through the wear and tear of an almost complete NFL season. they were fresh.

3) MOST IMPORTANTLY, chargers couldnt really prepare. game planning is so important, but the offense really looked different, personnel is different, how players react is different.

4) chiefs had nothing to gain. but that also means nothing to lose. they could play loose against a team with all the pressure in the world on them.

5) chargers obviously werent mentally ready. everything falls into place, you see all these backups, i mean how in the world do you bring your A-game?

that FG penalty obviously is horseshit though. how do you miss it? and even worse was that illegal contact call against the chargers late in OT. that was obviously PI. shouldve given the chiefs better field position to at least tie it up/put them in TD striking distance.

then, on the chargers side, before they went for that fake punt, gates was simply smacked to the ground while the ball was in the air, that was also pretty bad.

but, as we say, penalties cancel out. in the season opener, when the chargers started to collapse defensively, well, they didnt collapse at first. rather they held the texans to a FG. but some ref thought it was a good idea to call unnecessary roughness on 92 for hitting the punter (mike perreira and the NFL eventually said it was the wrong call). no doubt they win that game without the penalty.

who then? the steelers, which started 0-4?

the dolphins, which, while being on the inside track, tanked against the bills and jets? the same dolphins which got lucky against the steelers (see above) and pats (that wheeler dude has to learn how to defend a guy without bearhugging)?

the ravens, which got completely obliterated against the pats at home and kinda get blown out while the opposing QB throws 4 picks and which have, due to several measures, one of the worst offenses in the league?

when everything was on the line, the chargers were able to pull out a few wins that not too many people saw coming.

out of all teams vying for the 6-th seed (actually including the titans and jets here), the chargers are the only team to feature at least one legit group on either side of the ball. in fact, they are arguably the second best offense in the AFC, and most definitely the most balanced one over the second half of the season. they lost all but one game by one TD or less and have the leagues highest strength of victory. i know they got lucky, but most neutral observers would agree that they are the best team out of all those candidates. not saying they will go anywhere as the bengals have a great defense and play well at home, but dont forget that they have beaten three division winners, and another playoff team in the chiefs (in arrowhead, while they were playing starters, just for the record).

they deserve to be in the playoffs. probably not much more, but also not much less.

one game doesnt decide a teams fate. the chargers were pretty close to win that game against the redskins too. its like a couple of inches and that unfortunate goal line series never even takes place. thats the NFL, you never know on which side of the game of inches you will be.

every team can beat every team.

but, i will use your logic and say that the chargers are one of only a few teams that beat down on the broncos and their win was maybe the most impressive.

Whatever the Broncos are taking it all! Great game yesterday manning slayed the first half and our defense played good. (against a shitty raiders offense)

or rivera. i mean ya belichick did do well with a bunch of injuries but that team is a proven winning machine. true coach of the year should go to someone who took a loosing team/bad team and made them good. arians, rivera, reid.

oh and earl thomas should have at least been mentioned for dpoy im biased but i dont think watts should win it considering they lost 14 games and their d was god awful. quinn, mathis, kuechly, sherman, thomas would be my nominees

so glad schwartz is gone. its not going to correct all our problems but it is certainly a step in the right direction. the team was a reflection of that dudes personality. arrogant and very undisciplined. and not to mention during the NY game, he was telling fans to shut the fuck up when they were booing stafford for throwing a pick. and a few more incidents too....
