When people quote replies it could just go under the original reply instead of being scattered throughout the thread.

I see no reason, ns mobile works fine for 90% of the stuff i need it for. it just needs the ability to view previous messages with a user and a way to access user media.

I like this idea. To add to it though i would do this: so when you open up the revies section , you are greeted with links like "skis", "outerwear", "bindings", etc. you click on one, skis for example, and you get, sort by brand, type, width, etc. once you find the ski you are looking for, when you open it you get sections like, overall description, stiffness, park, pow, durability, weight, bases and edges, etc. when you click on one of those you get a dropdown with almost like a "minithread" of short comments of the selected attributes. And under all of that stuff is a thread section with specific questions on the product.

I personally like ski vs ski threads because they help with comparing side by side skis to each other

On the "search for.." bar you should be able to search everything at once. Not just a picture or just a forum. This would make it easier you find everything you want to know about a particular subject or person.

Highlighting unread posts in a thread, or any difference in colour from unread vs. read posts. Would make it much easier to find where you left off the last time you were in that thread.

This. Shoulda been done a while ago imo.

But with the app, when people go on a thread say te recent "best edit of 2012-2013" theres ALOT of vids posted there, so when i go to staright to the reply im halfway through typing and my iPod crashes.... When i do finish typing and hit the reply button it crashes then.

Another thing would be editing quotes on mobile, being able to upvote a reply, and give +/- w/o going to the persons profile

In the sell trade forum right next to the thread title have a nice little country flag so you know where the sales coming from before you look through it

Upvotes and downvotes in the forums and threads should dictate their order from top to bottom. And replys in a thread should be organized in the style like reddit, and not scattered around different pages.

Basically just organize threads like reddit. You already have the voting system in place so it should be an easy transition.

ALSO:

The ability to edit the OP of a thread. If not every post. With a note describing edit and ** . This could also be useful for Adding videos in the OP, which would be awesome for live contests and video contests.

Maybe for having notifications if you've been quoted in a thread, we could simply have a flag symbol or something like that that would appear beside the thread title in 'my threads.' Would way prefer that over some Facebook style notification system.

The reliability of NS on iOS is kind whack for me. I have an iPhone 4S, with all the new updates but NS is the only site that kicks me off from time to time for no reason.

Make the current rating of a thread visible from the forums. Maybe a green/red number based on direction of rating, or something along those lines.

I definitely want to see more out of the review section and I do feel that making it more a part of the forums will greatly improve it's use/ functionality.

Maybe set it up so a review has to follow a template? Maybe have it like profiles where you can fill in boxes that you feel apply, or have dropdown menus to select the appropriate categories that it falls into backed up with a write up. then once posted appears as a regular thread with quote/ comment functionality.

For kids always comparing skis and gear the dropdown could also act as some sort of "tagging system" that can categorize gear based on similar aspects then give recommendations to people after reading a review. It's a little out there, but I think reviews should be more like gear talk and less like the way it is currently being unused, as I barely ever see anything over there if I end up clicking on it. (and the 10/10 rating system currently being used seems pointless for most items, a good review is better than seeing "7/10, chips easy")

As mentioned a regionals revival would be nice as well, or even a cult revival. People always ask for summer set up or trick tip help and don't go to the cults to ask because they are dead so they end up in ski gabber and most people tell them to go back to the cults to ask questions that won't be answered. I understand the reason to have to "search" for cults, but for generic topics it seems pointless as it adds an extra/ unnecessary thread in SG before someone discovers the cult.

And I am not sure if it is just me, but I often have to retry and refresh my page about 3-4 times before I can get the picture embed to work properly, basically just ease of use things.

Oh and when pasting text into the reply box should default to the regular font/ size, as I really don't like the html coding at the bottom of the box and hate trying to mess with it.

also dub post, the ability to delete threads in sell/trade. Or maybe close the thread so it's clear the sale is over. I don't know how many times i search for something in gear and get 500 results from 2008

You should also be able to control what notifications you get as we'll as actually having notifications. Like if you wanted to get a notification everytime somebody posted in a thread you posted in, or quoted it or you could just not get notifications at all if you wanted to. That way if you didn't want to wade through notifications u wouldn't have to. Just my .02

I think it would be cool to have your home mountain or the place you usually ski at right near your icon in any given post. I'm always going into profiles to check where people ski out of pure curiousity and i think it would make it easier in b/s/t and elsewhere.


Obviously keep this optional as many people like the anonymity and for people that are just all over the map like ski industry ppl and pros.

btw, i really like the "legendary threads" forum section.

Summarizing my favorites/adding my own

1. Notifications for being quoted. I want it Facebook style up by your name box in top left corner. Put it below My Media and to the right of Account Settings. Just have it behave like your messages, with a number corresponding to new quotes.

2. If a thread gets super long, after 5, put the last page number ex. (1,2,3,4,5,72) Find a way to make it clean and compact.

3. Make B/S/T Original posts editable by the OP, and deletable for when the sale is done. Nothing is more frustrating then finding a sick deal on something, then scrolling down and finding it sold within an hour. Just give the OP options to delete what they sold. Also make it so they can delete the post after they sell everything. I don't like finding old posts from 2008.

4. Make a Top Rated section for comments too. It would be cool to see the most thumbed up comments, because those are usually very informative, or very funny.

5. I have no idea how you would do this, but this is the biggest change I would like to see with the newschoolers community. I want to see a bigger emphasis on cults and regionals. The build a jib cult, sticker thread, trick tip etc. ALL contain valuable information, and would be a great place for people to colabrate and get feed back on certain topics. When people ask the questions on SG, they often get directed to the cults, but if the stickied posts don't provide enough information for the user, they are stuck. If somebody is really experienced in one of the topics of a cult, that would be a great way to help users with said topic rather than finding a post in SG every once in a while.

That last one was a bit of a rant but whatever..


Anyway that's my 2 cents. Now to get back to my Chem work. Peace.

something i was wondering was if the reply and quote reply box where at the bottom of the page like when you add a comment on a video or a pic, instead of moving to that new page perhaps, this may just be me being a massive noob though!
