Personally I am always super stoked on this. Its actually my favorite skiing competition of the year. They also changed up the format and now the top 10 finalists all get an invite to the Sun Valley park shoot in april. Over the week level 1 will drop updates, and then will create a segment for the new movie. I think that this change in format is a great idea, and hopefully will help draw great talent and seperate the boys from the men.

I predict some entries from Hood Crew and Toy Soldiers, but I think the winner will be an unknown who really needs the exposure and $$$.



Anyone want to share some stoke? Predictions? Any idea who is putting out an entry?

What? That's urban, not at all the same as knowing how to actually ski a line or double stager. Not saying Brad's edit isn't awesome, but your argument back a couple pages about Logan winning only b/c of urban isn't true.

It is not at all the same, hitting actual lines/jumps in the backcountry is completely different than landing flat in powder hitting urban.

Honestly though we all know that ski style and clothing style tend to go hand in hand.

So after watching these semi-finalists videos, I have come to the conclusion that either A: the 10 finalists videos are absolutely going to blow my mind, or B: your entire crew has poor taste in what good skiing looks like.

Hopefully it is the first and not the latter.

Do people not know what an ender is? I have seen a front 2 out of an extremely trickable urban rail as an ender, a trick on a flat bar as an ender, what is this world coming to?

I was thinking the same thing. In every video but a few I was waiting for something dirty then was thoroughly disappointed. Need that last banger to leave a good impression.

Nick Miles may not have been the most tech, but damn he has sick style and flow. the editing and song also did very well to compliment. easily top 5 of the semi finalists

This year in particular the field was very tight, with a FINE line between those who made final ten vs. semis. If you're looking to get your 'mind blown' by the finalists then you're setting yourself up for disappointment. But again, I reiterate that the whole top 40 were very strong with some really rad videos obviously that didn't quite make finals.

I tried to actually judge the edits so far and rank them, and it was so fucking hard. People that give level 1 a hard time for their picks probobly hasnt tried to actually score them themselves, its no easy task

Dylan Sondrup literally started skiing park last season. Before that he raced. The guy blows my mind at how naturally talented he is. If he wins or even becomes a finalist that would be insane.

A lot of people hate to admit it, but racers that convert to freestyle can pick it up SUPER fast because they have awesome edge control and they're not afraid of going fast or ski on shitty snow (they race on ice so real snow is a blessing, haha). But yeah, Dylan's freaking sick.

I don't know if McVeigh made one or not, but if he did I'm placing him into the mix, haha.

Also, add Torvein (cause he's always in the finals), Khai, and Doan to my list.

With the level of riding display'd in SU-X the top 10 deserve a huge pat on the back for making it! Whoever is taking this should be proud, and props to Level 1 for giving a few kids a shot at a lifechanger!

I have a sneaky suspicion that dale made one. Think about it, last year he had made tons of edits by about this time in the year. This year, other than podium at war of rails, i have hardly seen anything at all out of dale. I know he's already filming with 4bi9, but Wallisch and McChesney prove that it's possible to film for both, especially if you slay as hard as Dale. I also strongly doubt that McVeigh made one, it really makes more sense for him to focus in with Stept, since they film so much on the east coast in Boston and such.

Dom Laporte surprises me. In my opinion, he was one of the best urban guys last year. He had style sort of like Bulzan (which is only my subjective opinion of course). He only had one jump trick if I recall too.

This surprises me because A) As Freedle Coty mentioned earlier, this is not a best urban contest and B) Level 1's park shoots (especially at Sun Valley) have been heavily dominated by huge kickers (or at least that's we see in the movies).

The most important thing here is that I'm just speculating that Laporte played to his strengths for his entry this year which is his ridiculous urban/rail game. For all I know, Laporte might have a serious jump game that I don't know about that consists of more of his entry this year. I think it's fair to say that he has a more well rounded entry this year though.

That's just because this is not a "best urban contest" (in which Bulzan would've won or have done very well according to Freedle). So I think Laporte must have mixed up his entry significantly (more jumps specifically), while still having a super banger entry (just like last year) one way or the other.

Yeah at 2:25 is his only jump shot(besides maybe 1:50,even though it's urban).It's definitely gonna be really interesting to see him in Sun Valley.

Yeah I got a little carried away on that one. I'm just stoked that Laporte made the finals again (apparently) because his was my favorite entry last year. I'm also fairly interested like someone just said to see/hear about how he does at Sun Valley and what his entry was like this year.
