Personally I am always super stoked on this. Its actually my favorite skiing competition of the year. They also changed up the format and now the top 10 finalists all get an invite to the Sun Valley park shoot in april. Over the week level 1 will drop updates, and then will create a segment for the new movie. I think that this change in format is a great idea, and hopefully will help draw great talent and seperate the boys from the men.

I predict some entries from Hood Crew and Toy Soldiers, but I think the winner will be an unknown who really needs the exposure and $$$.



Anyone want to share some stoke? Predictions? Any idea who is putting out an entry?

That entire edit was a park shoot, with no variation of terrain. He is a glorified gymnast, and his dubs are dope, but that doesn't mean he can kill urban or has a stylie rail game. Great skier, but when you make a video that is a one-dimensional Breck shoot, you aren't going to be a finalist.
Kids who throw dubs are a dime a dozen these days, and I'd much rather see someone huck a massive 180 like Bulzan, than throw a bunch of dub 12's with different grabs.

And at most you should only have two perspective angles on shots. The three in a row thing was annoying, especially when it was back to back on those tricks.

I was going to post something but KZAman just laid it down perfectly. While there were a few shots that stood out, overall all the edits are pretty standard... which is an odd thing to say but it's true.

I really hope the finalists can spin both ways... haven't been seeing much of that so far but I've seen plenty of dubs. Kind of ass-backwards if you ask me but oh well. Tomato, potato.

Sam Z really takes the "spin to win" mentality to heart huh...I liked his energy, but the amount of degrees of rotation in that edit is stagering and just got old after a certain time. Mike on the other hand...that was sick...he and Sam Hurst really show they have skills in all aspects of skiing...I also love how fast Mike hits everything, he not scared, haha.

It's called making a joke, a ridiculous analogy in this case. Just because you have some Jewish friends or "more" friends than you claim I do (LOL, that really helps your argument), doesn't mean you should use Jew or Jewish in a derogatory manner. Care to explain to me how saying:

"brad and sam both got jewed really fucking hard"
"I blame it on the jews"
"Probably because they are jewish. damn jews run everything here in america."

is a joke? If it is, wells hit I hope comedy isn't your forte. That is what I am calling you out on. That and whiny like a baby back bitch because your friends didn't make it to the finals of a video contest that for all you know they don't deserve to make it to.

Bolzan and Sam both had dope as fuck edits that could easily be segments in movies and I will watch over and over. You realize your distracting people from their skiing with all of your nonsense. Let the skiing speak for it self dude, these guys are obviously going places.

Alex_G. I normally really enjoy your posts. Why are you polluting this discussion about an incredible contest hosted by one of the sickest filming companies out there with your negative whiny-ass bullshit? Please stop.

In my opinion all these videos have been incredible, it's so wild to think about the number of great skiers out there now! So many different styles and ways to look at skiing. I love that Level 1 puts this on and releases more than just the finalists, we all get to watch 30 sick edits with awesome skiing, and that in and of itself is dope.

ya just what i wanted was to make 5k a year filming with some skiing company. Im really upset because I totally didnt want the business partnership i have now. Or the beautiful wife, or being able to ski 12 months a year in both hemisphere's. You must know all about my life being from newschoolers.com though!

Do the judges pick a winner out of the semi-finalists, or do they finally release a finalists section, and then pick out of that? This might have been said before, but I'm not sure where to find an answer.

Out of these 20 edits, Brad Bulzar and Sam Hurst were the only ones that stood out to me. There better be some damn good reasons as to why they didn't make finals.

So many of these are bangers, I've been baffled by so much of the shots. Great to see all this somewhat smaller talent cause it's so sick to watch. If this is a step below finalists, the finals are going to be straight up crazy
