Opting out of TSA scanners

Anybody else opt out of those things or plan on doing so the next time you fly? Just curious to what other nsers feel on the subject.

The positive effects of Fluoride in drinking water ffaaarrrrr outweigh the unlikely chance of minimal negative effects. Before you ask: yes, I have done research on the subject.

Anyway...back to TSA and airplanes. Fuck this drinking water argument.

Simple logic only solves simple problems man. There is way more to it than that.

For one, people such as yourself strongly oppose someone else seeing a basic outline of their body or giving them an incredibly small dose of radiation. So much so that they would rather succumb to sitting around for 20 more minutes and wait to have someone touch their genitals instead.

Airlines have a vested interest in satisfying their customers and keeping the public safe in the best way they see fit. That's their bottom line! That's how they make money and stay in business. I'd venture to say that getting the plane from A to B is the simplest thing they deal with. People are much harder to predict and manage. Satisfying customers involves providing security in an environment that many people are already FAR more nervous than the typical Taylor Swift concert, getting passengers to their gates in a reasonable amount of time, and otherwise making their experience as calming and enjoyable as possible.

For example, I recently went through a scanner with a spare key in my left pocket (I rarely carry anything there but I had an extra car key just in case). In 2 seconds my scan was done and the agent politely asked me to empty my left pocket. Oops, key, thanks have a good day. I didn't have to get patted down, step aside and wait, or have a stranger touch me to within 6-9 centimeters of my penis to ensure I wasn't carrying something that could be used to harm passengers or cause an uproar that could be highly distracting to the pilot in command. Furthermore, the entire process from shoes off to shoes on took about 2 minutes. Highly efficient, highly effective, extremely satisfied customer.

And to address the thread itself, c'mon man. It's an interesting topic but you wrote it just so you could go off and send a classic abortionator "FUCK OFF I'M SO MUCH SMARTER THAN YOU!!!!" to the first person to disagree with you. Let it develop a bit so a good thread doesn't deteriorate.

Hopefully that was a decent point that you won't take the wrong way, this thread is a good read and I'd like to keep reading.

Of all the things prevalent in public water, fluoride is your biggest concern? How about radioactive materials from runoff or other toxins that are difficult to remove in the cleaning process? Hell, in Vegas it's so bad they actually suggest you don't drink the water.

I see no problem with these scanners. Obviously they take longer but after 9/11 the USA felt it had a responsibility to beef up airport security (rightly so) and this was the response. The radiation thing is negligible. The privacy thing is negligible. If you are really against it just go for the pat down, but imagine how long it would take if everyone did that? It would be a fiasco.

And saying you'll soon be seeing these things in hospitals or concert halls...thats lolololing all the way to the troll bank. I can't tell if you're a try hard troll or you just post this shit on NS because no other forum will give your crazy rants the light of day.

Yes, governments are inherently good. That's def why the history books(which are clearly wrong) say other wise, and the founding fathers(who were clearly idiots) left us that very important piece in the declaration of independence.


Governments are corrupted by power. Look at the massive influence on lobbying on what politicians actually pass than what they say to get dumb people to elect them.

You're basically saying that they people struggling for power are ultimately right, while the people who wrote the constitution are wrong. Sorry, but I can't side with you on that one.

I take liberty pretty seriously. Once you give that shit up, you sure as hell don't get it back. But it's all incremental. Right now it's just something that's a little annoying for flights, maybe next it's be just for court houses to. Everything is in steps. People piss and moan about it but eventually people just deal with it and it becomes normal, then it get's ratcheted up a little more.

I'm good on that.

You are completely overlooking dose and dose rate, which has absolutely everything to do with risk. However, I'm not sure why you're still stuck on fluoride in water.

My point is that the doses of radiation experienced in one of those machines are negligible. Several airports equip their TSA agents with devices that are so sensitive they can even detect radiation from a person taking medication for thyroid issues from a hundred feet away. Those same agents stand next to the scanners without getting readings from radioactive-cancer spawning-passengers who just walked through their death machines.

I'm just not down with all these unnecessary additions to security. If you say it's no big deal then why not put one at every court house and mall. There was a shooting at a mall this weekend, we should have had these scanners there, we should have them everywhere. Right?

You do realize that the new security is the government not the airlines themselves.

Again you're making it sound as though this is the airlines doing because it's what there customers want not a government agency adding it's own methods and technology wherever it sees fit.

I flew right before and after they were implemented a lot of places and it really didn't make a difference in time. You still have to take all your shit out, shoes off and everything in the bin.

The process didn't take long at all when I went before the scanners.

Actually I wrote it because I just flew and tsa were being dicks. But of course I just randomly thought, hey, I'm going to make a thread about the tsa just so I can argue with somebody.


Hell somebody like you that really thinks this is making them safer should probably stop driving, being in cars, going to crowded places, skiing, trampolining, and anything else because that's far more dangerous than the airports.

How was what you posted a decent point. Having to wait for the pat down is COMPLETELY irrelevant to my point point because it's just tsa being dicks trying to make it more of a pain in the ass to opt out, really not that shocking. Also same with the dick touching, they didn't get that feely on the pat downs before.

Also your other point was that tsa is from the airports themselves providing a service that their customers want in the fashion they demand it to make them feel safer, which is complete bullshit.

So yeah...

We're talking parts per million here. The effect is negligible. Even if you ate a whole tube of fluoridated toothpaste in one sitting, you'd probably end up with nothing more than a stomach ache and maybe some vomiting.

I know this may seem like a pointlessly impossible task, but it will give you something to do while the rest of us are making money at our workplaces and cooling down with a nice glass of water.

Dunno but I wouldn't dream of bringing drugs on a plane now with these things.

Even having a girl put it up her punani is sketch b/c of them.


I am always late for my flights its a miracle I have never missed one (I got a cousin who is like 50-50 on if he'll make a plane he always misses those shits) so I wouldn't dare fuck around with TSA.


The funniest thing is its the easiest job to get on the planet McDonalds is probably a tougher gig to land these days.

Best option is to just grab it on the other side, especially since most airports are in decent sized cities you can find it. If you have a habit that's a bit more of a pain in the ass. I'd probably throw some of whatever in one of my cigs then fill the end with tobacco and throw it back in the pack. Enough to get me through the flight. Or boof that shit.

And really the people they get sometimes are insanely skilled and would probably be doing brain surgery if it wasn't for that gig. They pick em because they don't ask questions and they don't give a fuck if people are pissed at them = perfect people for the job.

Read your link. A systematic REVIEW. It is NOT a standalone research study. It is a meta-analysis of several older research studies performed in China. You were trying to argue that I, personally, am affected by fluoride in my water; however, the levels of fluoride and the way the fluoride is administered to the water supply may be vastly different here than in China. Using that review is a piss poor effort to convince anyone in North America that their drinking water is going to cause cognitive deficits. Do yourself a favor and go to PubMed, look up a few primary research studies, and get back to me. I'm not doing the legwork for you.

do you also believe that chinese people are somehow affected differently from americans lol? 

do yourself a favour and give just 1 example of those many proven positive effects from ingesting fluoride. i'm not doing the legwork for you.

The risks of flying are fucking MINIMAL. Flying is pretty fucking safe, and that's without all the extra "safety" additions.

Movement about the country freely is a right. Well the constitution used to mean something.


Oh blah blah blah, the airline is a private company. Lots of places you go are private companies. My problems with the airline security isn't the airport providing security that people want(as somebody above inferred) but the government making this whole bullshit organization and adding all this extra unnecessary technology.


I opt out of the scanners and that's my right, so fuck off.

Did you ever think that there are some places you can't get to with a train or car, or the planes the few people that fly generally own?

Also I could take a train and pay probably the same amount to get there much slower. Also those have random checkpoints these days anyway but that's besides the point.


Fuck the whole, if you don't like the direction your country is going just don't do anything, approach that people like you have. Seriously is one of the shittiest arguments, actually doesn't combat the point simply just pushes it to the side.

We used to have a constitution. It's assclowns like you that watched that get completely butt raped.
