Calling All Atheists

***First off I just want to say im not trying to start a shit storm by any means although unfortunately, one is most likely imminent.

I just have a quick question for you. I'm a practicing Catholic. That being said, Im not some radical, fundamentalist that tries to shove religion or God down peoples throats. Please re-read that last statement before you try to post some smart comment. But any way, Im NOT a creationist. I believe in evolution and the big bang theory simply because evolution has been proven and the big bang theory is the most plausible explanation for how our universe came to exist. But my question for all the atheists that dont believe in any god at all, is how did that hot, microscopic ball of gasses and other matter come about? Once again, im just curious to hear how atheists explain this or if the majority of them believe in a different theory of how the universe first came about. Im not trying to push religion on any one.

So if someone believes the earth is flat is that just as valid a relief as someone who believes the earth is spheroid? All beliefs are equal right?

it is their right to believe something as a person, that doesnt mean i dont have a right to argue about that, and honestly dude enough with your stupid earth is flat argument, your not getting anywhere with it.

Where have I said that someone doesn't have the right to believe in god? In fact I explicitly said (a few times now) that anyone can believe whatever they want (or whatever they believe based on their view of the world). That doesn't make the belief valid and it doesn't mean I have to respect it.

Why should I stop using the flat earth analogy? If all beliefs are equal, what's wrong with believing the earth is flat. You're a hypocrite to flat earthers!

You believe in god, which is just as stupid, if not more stupid, than believing the earth is flat. However, you are entitled to believe whatever nonsense you want, which I believe is what he was getting at.

My CCD teacher used to do really inappropriate things to be, I kept it a secret for awhile. But it has grown on me and I accept it. He would always tell me, a joke that the difference between painting and Jesus is that it only takes one nail to hang a painting. Is this obscene and outrageous, most would believe it to be a joke, but in-fact it effectuates the philosophy, and symbolic meaning that Jesus was a painting, of all emotions, a painting of colors that not one individual could resemble, a figure so strong that it took more than one nail. A figure that induced miracles.

This is what my CCD teacher said.
