I can't use NS at work now for fear that some stupid whore is going to pop up on the screen showing her gross tits.

Get your shit together NS. I understand that FD and Lesh "don't give a fuck" and are "shaking up a stagnant industry, doing what they want" but you have to draw the line somewhere. If they want to kill all of their sites adult traffic (people with money to actually buy shit), and have a surge in horny 12 year old kids, then let them do that.

If you want to continue losing daily users because they will literally be reprimanded for using the site at work due to inappropriate content, then I guess that's your call but it is a fucking stupid one.

-Annoyed user who spends less and less time on the site after being an avid user for almost 10 years.

You keep hiding behind the argument that the line is too unclear to draw...

The line is pretty clear. Video's of girls holding her nipples bouncing her bare tits around 500 pixels wide is CLEARLY not the same as the Lange Ads of a girl skiing with a Deep V neck coat.....

Censorship issue being raised here is interesting. I'd cast my vote in favor of no censorship, if it were up to me. NS and the population it serves sees a good deal "more harmful" on NSG and the internet in general.

FWIW, I've never seen a group of dudes get so irate at a picture or two of scantily clad ladies.

I like the FD ads personally, they're not gonna make me visit the FD site or anything but they sure look good on NS IMO. Much better than Bdog in some full tilts right??

Are people seriously complaining that they don't like the content of the ads because they're worried about getting in trouble at work and school? Why the FUCK are you browsing NS at work and school if you're so damn worried about it? Anyone complaining about this is obviously too young to be using the internet unsupervised, or working at a job where using the internet during work hours is looked down upon to begin with.

Well, why don't you go socialize with some of your coworkers or grab a cup of coffee instead of huddling in your cubicle trying to shield the view of some covered tits while you watch your favorite gangster hyphy edit? Maybe you'll even make a few friends in the process!

Basically, if you think that the ads are going to be inappropriate for your school or work place, then you shouldn't be browsing the internet there in the first place and should be doing what you were asked to do.

This is BS. It's none of your business what the OP does while at work or in school. If he wants to look at NS, let him. This is a legitimate annoyance from his point of view. Now, it's equally legitimate to say in response, "if you don't like the decisions made with respect to what ads NS wants to put up on NS go make your own forum", but don't tell him he should be doing something else with his time. That is simply not your place.

It's not so much getting in trouble I don't think so much as it's awkward when you've got that stuff on your computer when you're in public. Like looking at porn when you're browsing in a library. I don't want naked girl ads on my screen. I'm on NS in my office right now and I get where he's coming from. It's not as bad in my case as if I was, say, working in a cubicle and everyone could see my screen when walking down the hall.

Meh. It's still his choice to visit NS while at work, knowing perfectly well that these ads may be present. I don't feel bad for him. There are plenty of other websites on the internet that don't have "explicit" First Drop ads.

First Drop is a ridiculous company, after dealing with the clown David Lesh a few years ago over email I was convinced he was going to run the company into the ground.

Il put money on that FD Wear is a Phoneix company, which is one that collapses due to a pile of debts, then rises from the ashes with the same assets and customers using a slightly different name (FD Virtika Wear). This would allow him to avoid taxes, wages, other bills, and basically all liability to cover their debt.

Having felt with fd over email as well, I can say with confidence you must either a. Have no social skills, or b. be an asshole. They have the best customer service I have ever encountered, anywhere.

I think you're just being stubborn, as well as singling him out as the OP while THOUSANDS on this site would probably agree with him.

Ads with tits are not the essence of NS, freeskiing, or anything else we share here as you've implied for so long now. If you honestly think it is, I don't follow. Since 2005 I've seen all sorts of things that give NS an identity that didn't negatively impact a users experience. There are countless places on the site where we compile massive piles of naked girls that members can choose not to venture into. When an ad uncontrollably takes over your screen, that's a different matter, and it's one that I don't think adds any value to the site at all. At home I run adblock, and at work or in public I don't use NS. In fact, I don't tell my acquaintances about NS anymore because I know the first thing that will pop up on their screens. Simple solution for me, but an embarrassingly childish reason that I can't choose to use it outside of my home.

If that's seriously important to you, I don't really understand.

I say we get more ads of sexy women wearing oversized hoodies with no clothes on. I'd even be willing to buy posters. Smartest ad campaign in a long time. Plus the titty playing ad is definitely for kids. I mean... it has Tigger in the background how could it be considered pornographic?

Don't even know what to say about that.

What is important to me is not whitewashing the entire site. People hate these ads because they have some screwed up anti FD Wear idea. Its a vocal few that hate them... if there's thousands that think they're satan, then there's hundreds of thousands that don't give the slightest fuck about 'em.

I can not ban one thing and not all things. You must understand that about my point here in order to get it... There is no way for me to create a rule that bans one legal yet semi-offensive thing without banning them all.

Having it in the ad system doesn't change things. Advertisers enjoy the same freedom of users. If I have to ban all advertisers from posting legal images that might piss off a few really, really conservative people - I must do the same for all users. So if you were in any thread (because you may have gone into that thread for the title) that eventually had a picture of covered up women, we'd have to ban that.

Please for those who are really angry about that, try to open your minds to this point. If you wish to debate me on this issue, come with points about how I can censor one thing and not that exact same thing everywhere on the site.

The ad is 15 seconds of a girl playing with her tits. That's it. It's not well done or clever like ON3P's pillow fight campaign or something like that.

I'm not a prude, but you and I both know that's fucking stupid and ridiculous. I watch new ski edits on NS, but when I share them with others do you really think I'm going to send them the NS link instead of Vimeo, Youtube, or whatever else I can post that doesn't have that? Think I'll post an NS link to my Facebook with the hopes that that ad pops up first?

It's not really that appalling, it's embarrassingly stupid. It's some Communist whitewashing you keep describing, it's just you being stubborn and childish about saying "You know what Lesh, this is pretty stupid and it makes the site look unprofessional. How about we stick with all your other funny ads instead?"

Or should I team up with Park City and make an ad of me rubbing my nuts in a circle for 15 seconds followed by "Fuckin Park Fuckin City Motha Fucka - We Don't Give a Fuck and We Be Pushing the Envelope"

Don't worry, I'll cover the tip so it's not ridiculous.

My opinions of marketing I share with people freely. I actually think that this particular ad is absolutely genius. Its more thought out towards Newschoolers than almost every other ad campaign we've ever had.

Why?

Because it doesn't say FD Wear anywhere in the ad whatsoever.

All it says is "You know who this is" (or something like that) - which means that it is a direct response to the way people have reacted to the less racy fixed banner ads. So its actually a troll on those who are angry, which if you ask me is phenomenal marketing - considering this is company has a polarizing image.

Even if we drop the whitewashing issue... I don't think this is stupid at all.

As for your cock rubbing ad... I not only wouldn't refuse this - I ENCOURAGE you to convince Park City to do it. You have to get the correct level of coverage going that it could stand up against a really tight g-string speedo though... but I'm sure with the right amount of editing and properly selected models without too much girth you'd be good.

I'll volunteer. My penis is fucking tiny.

kind of agree now, like 1/2 or even 2/3 pages on NS have the FD ads ...
i work at a skishop and it used to be no problem browsing NS on the workfloor, now i always feel somewhat stressed when i go to a new page...

maybe i'm just a bit prude but i'd like a bit more SFW ads ...
