Freeskiing Needs a new magazine..

It seems to me, that there isnt enough ski mags out there theres Powder which is awesome but doesnt really feature interviews, and then ?Freeskier, and I don't really like freeskier, their editorial content , is way to small + they always feature the same athletes over and over again, having started and run a national magazine in Australia , I understand that print media isnt so profitable anymore, but It seems to me that there isnt enough coverage for Athletes that arent " Super Pros " yet, snowboarding has like 10 + magazines in north america wethers skiing has maybe 3 freeski specific ones...
Id love to See Powder bring back Axis... that was the best mag ever.. Freeze was my bible.. maybe we need a petition with 100 thousand NS signatures to get transworld to bring it back..

anyways im curious do you ns people Like freeskier or do you find it lacks substance and creativity ?
We need a ski mag like Thrasher, or what big Brother was like back in the day. Anyways probably never going to happen but this is the one spot to talk shit about skiing I never come on here anymore but with the olympics coming and freeskiing growing it seems sad that theres only 2 American Ski mags.

I honestly don't see what people have against Freeskier. I think it's a sweet magazine and I enjoy reading it each month.

Between SBC Skier and Powder, I'm set. Really enjoy both, especially Symms' column in Powder.

i always thought it'd be cool for ns to have little magazine. but then i realized that they already do a great job of reporting the news through this website so it would be a little redundant

Freeze should come back.. for a population of 300 million America should have more than a few magazines for a growing sport like freeskiing.. Ski journal is awesome.. but I havent seen it ever for sale except online AXIS should come back..

I wholeheartedly second this. Because damn does the editorial content in Freeskier suck. With an editorial mindset of "corralling" pre-existing content and shaking out the "good" content all they have done is create a non-offenceable, omni moderate misrepresentation of the sport.

I'm not saying there is not a place for that kind of journalism, I just think that there is a demand for something better.

Hopefully I'm not stepping on too many toes here... Just my .02

Response was too mediocre. SO much effort to put together vs. how many people read it.

What did you feel about Issue 01 and Issue 02 of Newschoolers that we did a year or two ago? Harsh criticism FTW here. Would like to hear about that style of content coming from us and our contributors.

For a bit of clarification, the idea is to start adding a lot more of that style of long-form content to our regular news program. Wanted though to see if it resonated with people.

freeskier is more of an advertisement booklet than a publication.
every pic is taken by one of two photographers of one or two athletes at a video shoot setup that im gona see the live action of before the magazine comes out.

One of the reasons I get freeskier, is for the pictures. There are a lot of ads, but they are mostly pictures too haha. It's really cheap too.

Agreed. I mean, I enjoy my Powder subscription and it's definitely a quality read, but sometimes the overly serious and dramatic tone of most of the pieces in it can get repetitive. Powder is awesome, but just one more magazine with a different focus/tone would be nice.

I would really like to see some more content from you guys. Pretty much everything here is first announced in the forum and then a day or two later you link to a short article from espn or somthing, or some short article written by one of you.

Have a look at pinkbike. They have results and info as soon as it happens not a day or two later. They also have photos and videos and update articles about all things connected to mountain biking.

Pretty much all that seems to be on the front page here is videos posted by members which are in the video section anyway, or results to comps days after everyone knows the result any way.

I may be alone in this but I would like to see this site to be more then just a forum.
