This thread showed me the video 1337 posted. I dont mind remembering the day and those who lost their lives. This thread also helps us remember the heroes of that day. And it sometimes reveals new heroes we never knew existed.

I am going to repost the video because I think its one everyone should watch.

should we make an other thread remembering the thousands of people you guys lost by going to war for this? or how about an other thread for the thousands of innocent people killed in an attempt to kill one person who was blamed for this?

I get that its big, It is definately worthy of attention on the news every year. It gets annoying when every single year on this day it is the only thing you can watch on tv. when do you draw the line and start doing specials on round numbers or every 5 years. The way its going right now, Im convinced one day I will tune in to "9/11 remembering 97 years ago"

Why single me out? If you read my long-ish post on the second page you'll understand how I feel about the whole situation. It doesn't mean disrespect or haughtiness against those who lost their lives, their loved ones or those whoe remember them now, as I assume you do - no, but I have a freedom to express my opinion, respectfully, about the whole event and its aftermath upon your nation and the whole world as it stands. Understand that I am also talking about this day and it shook me when I heard about it. For some reasons, I thought it was the Koreans at first. Am I not talking about this day myself?

I'm sorry for your loss, in either case.

I was in school that day. Flight 93 actually flew over top of us during recess. It crashed down about a 30 minute drive from my house. Pretty gnarly day. Im lucky. As are some of my family members who had meetings scheduled in the towers that day but had them canceled. My deepest condolences to those of you who lost close ones.

well, no actually I live about 5 or 6 hours from there and I was in grade 6 at the time. In terms of having someone there who I knew, no I didnt. But same goes for the majority of the usa. Most of the people directly affected were new yorkers and a small region arround. yet the rest of the continent has to be fucking patriotic about it and must think its eternally sad.

Also with this were suposed to support the idea of invading innocent countries and killing innocent people in the search of vengance or as you call him osama bin laden.

I wasn't old enough to really take in and watch with hopelessness and fear and to understand why but nonetheless it was a terrible, tragic day that is engraved into a lot of peoples brains.

i was in kindergaten celebrating my birthday but everyone had to go home early since alot of the kids parents work in the city cause were close,and they had to make sure every ones parents were okay

and also that day my best friends mom was supposed to go to a meeting in the world trade but she had to miss it and take him to my birthday party. Lets just say she was very happy she deiced to

i was 15 and remember it well. i didnt know what the fuck was going on at first. i think i was about the last person to hear about it. one of my chick friends was saying something about bombs going off in the US and i was like "wtf are you talking about?", but shortly after word being spread we had a PA announcement and went into the auditorium for an assembly where they explained what was going on then cancelled class the rest of school for that day.

this was when i lived in the south shore of montreal, quebec. i really admire the respect that quebec and the rest of canada had paid the US in that time. our superiors informed us of what was going on, we had a moment of silence, and they let us out early to be with our families and pay attention to the news. it wasn't a day where school was important. i'm sure that at the time i was just happy to have a day off as i wasn't directly affected by the attacks, but now that i'm older i can certainly appreciate the call they made and think it was the right thing to do. i know that if something like that happened in my home city or even country, i would appreciate our neighbors to the south paying us a little respect too. that respect and sense of comradery is a very unifying bond that we share, so when we step up and pay tribute to things that happen to one another and get each others backs, it makes me proud to be allies.

rest in peace, fallen victims of the brutal acts of terrorism that have and continue to affect the world today.

Elementary school like half the people here, didn't understand why we were being sent home, came home mom was watching in awe. I don't really remember the rest of the day, maybe I wasn't young or mature enough to understand, all I remember is I didn't really understand the gravity of it till weeks, if not months or years after.

I was in first grade and they wouldn't tell us what was going on, but they gave us a note to give to our parents saying that we were safe.

the next day we had to draw a picture of our school with an american flag on it, which I thought was weird. then they mailed the pictures to america or something.

I agree that it's fine for people to pay respect (which I did) but I also fully understand those who find it all unbelievably excessive. Which it is. We aren't telling mourning people and those paying respect that they are wrong or stupid at all.

I'm not at all offended by it. I actually paid my respect today. Watched some old videos. Thought about people I knew who were directly affected. However, most reasonable people will understand that it is excessive, and by no means should we somehow get nationalism out of it. It's a day of remembrance. No one makes a big deal about the millions who die of fucking hunger every year, which is more sad in my opinion.


When did I tell anyone to shut the fuck up? I never once addressed a person paying respect, etc. in a negative way.

it was a terrible tragedy and i wish that all the families will find peace, but i'm not going to place my state of mind in a saddened demeanor on this date because society thinks i should.

people who were not affected by 911 in anyway, but choose to feel like an 'american victim' on this date are being being contrived and do a disservice to the families that were affected by it. it's equivalent of someone who just had something happen to them that will have a lasting impression on their life and some douche coming along expressing their sympathy by saying 'i feel your pain', when in reality they don't. they can't even fathom it.

I remember that day so well. I was 6 then? maybe 7. I remember the weather, the busride, the short school day. I watched the news and thought there was no way anyone attacked America. The next day I read the articles about it in the local paper, NYT, and Boston Globe. I was very unclear about the motives behind it, and I still am.

After the attack, my town hung an american flag on every telephone pole on the Main Street for a couple of miles, it was really cool to see.

RIP To those who lost their lives in the attack. I don't see why NS can't have one thread where people don't spew their unfounded opinions when they aren't appropriate. Fuck.

You probably don't think that the Afghan people are responsible for these attacks, and yes, they are not technically responsible, but they are responsible for harboring these animals... They are responsible for letting them hide in the villages... They are responsible for letting them blend in with the crowd after setting up and I.E.D or throwing a grenade over a wall and blowing up an American soldier... They are responsible for letting the children grow up and becoming these animals. You might not think they're responsible, but they are.

I have utmost respect for the victims of 9/11 and their families, I'm just not sure if we should have a remembrance day every year. Our pharmaceutical companies basically funded this attack, which most are owned by the government or people very close to the government. You want to know why? American Pharmaceutical companies are the LARGEST registered buyers of Al Qaeda's opium. So before you go around saying you just think it's a conspiracy, I do not, I believe these attacks were by Al Qaeda, and the U.S. had nothing to do with them besides unintentionally funding these attacks.
