I agree with you there, by making it impossible to get guns legally, nobody who actually uses guns in a lawful way can get them. There will always be illegal way to get a hold of guns, which means criminals would be the only people who would have guns. Smart? No.

You're not getting the point. There are always ways to get illegal objects/substances/etc... Banning them just makes it so that the people who use them properly are completely blocked off from obtaining them. The US government might as well ban alcohol again. However, this is not the thread for this discussion. Vibes to all the friends and families of anyone involved in the shooting.

Not really true, There's still gun crimes in the UK. Switzerland has very little regulation on firearms and it's gun-crime rates are so low that they don't even keep statistics.

Now I don't know much personally about the laws, but cant we do something to track/record them better? I mean there is always the possibility of someone who has a completely clean record to go insane and use a gun for bad, but any hint, or anything on your record? I'm not sure, but I feel we can maybe do some more things to avoid this.

This concept goes out the window when you take into consideration how many guns are completely off the "track/record".

The amount of guns illegally owned in this country will always be around. scratched serial numbers, gun running, etc. is everywhere.

Ya that felon can't walk into your nearest gun store and buy a new revolver or AR-15...but he sure as hell can make a quick phone call and buy one off the street in no time at all.

Oh boy - here come all the "ban-the-gun" crowd again.

OK - I'll play

So - when all of you wanting to "ban-the-guns" finally manage to get all the guns out of the hands of the bad guys - NONE - of whom bother to apply for license to own or to carry - when you can finally declare everyone UNARMED CITIZEN IS SAFE - then those of us who legally own weapons will be happy to give the up.

But until then - we who own weapons legally will keep Thomas Jefferson's statement in his "Legal Commonplace Book" in mind:
