The splash page today claims a cuban grab... I have yet to hear of this until today.

Though.... I like it. Good name, and the body positioning in the photo definitely does it for me. I would personally just call this a tail grab, but I'm curious to hear what you guys think makes it specifically deserve a new name... or if you've all heard of it and I'm just out of the loop.

I'm tempted to say I back it.

The terms lead and opp are relative to the direction of the spin.

There's no such thing as an "opp blunt" or "lead mute" in a straight air. However, you can do a cuban or a stale in a straight air. That's a good way to look at it.

Cuban is reaching past blunt/tail to the other ski's tail, and similarly, a stale is like reaching beyond toxic (yes, toxic is inside edge same hand same ski, but the relative hand position for a stale is the same, except on the outside edge of the opposite ski) basically the exact opposite of a tindy.

not to be random, but does any one else miss just plain jiberish shirts with the jcrown in the middle and nothing else? like the one brogan was wearing? i kinda wish they made one design that was simpler besides the lohi, all the other stuff's got too much going on

I've been calling it an optimo for a few years now, has more or less the same meaning- optimo is a brand of blunt, and it works since you're grabbing the opposite tail.

Only other person I have seen do it was Chris Turpin, once. If anyone can find the edit I would love hem watched him do that trick over and over. That was the first day Walker had done it though, casual chairlift convo and then next few runs it was on.

for snowboarders though, isn't seatbelt when they grab nose crosshanded with their back-hand? i kinda think it would make a little more sense to call it crail, since he's reaching and crossing his hand back across his body towards his tails... he doesn't get the true-tail though, which is also why i hesitate to call it crail since i thought for knuckledraggers crail was a crosshanded tail...?
