these companies are essentially dead. Yet Dale Talkington and skiiers like tosh peters still ride their skis...How is this possible?

Just because a rider owns and uses a pair of skis it doesn't mean he's affiliated with that company. Not all "pros" have full gear sponsorships. I believe last year Vincent Gagnier who is one of the industries most renowned skiers was un-sponsored and rode Salomons even after they dropped him. (Don't quote me on that, I'm not 100% positive on the entire situation)

I believe legally he's still sponsored by them through a contract.

Coreupt lost an investor which is what sent them into bankruptcy, the French Govt. has given them until Mid July to find a replacement investor, however Coreupt as a brand still indents to produce the 2012-13 line of skis.

This. If the company is officially and unequivocally bankrupt, then the the riders have already, by definition, left the company, as it doesn't exist anymore.

Bankrupt =/= company closed

And Dale will be fine, he had a very good year and will be able to find a new ski sponsor (it's not like he's been dropped by anyone....from what I heard from some of his friends, he left rossi cause they wouldn't pay him, didn't really feel like asking him directly so I couldn't confirm that, but it seems reasonable given rossi's new "grass roots" direction of sponsorship).

I think Splice Productions has rich parents. They could probably buy coreupt. If not, splice could just use the hundreds of thousands of dollars that he's gonna make off of his new movie, Shelby to buy it.

i dont think that ninthward has gone out of business or even bankrupt...... they still came out with a 12/13 line. just think that they have lost a lot of clientele due to the fact that slowly over the years riders have been leaving them. probably because nine didnt have the money to pay. i have a pair of ninthwards and i would most definetly buy another pair

its totally their fault. They didnt sell enough skis, didnt make enough money, couldnt please the investors, and they went bankrupt because of it end of fucking story

i didn't follow it 100% but i think coreupt was doing pretty good, they had a ton of pro riders, made quality skis for a budget, had a lot of interesting models, etc.
just their last 2 years they seemed to lose all their riders and go bankrupt, maybe their riders were leaving because they knew or because they were forced, i dunno, i just think its a shame... from personal experience, i hold coreupt skis very high !

although i love that their skis are 100 euro's, its pretty obvious that they would be making less money as their concurrents 400 euro skis.

yeah, although i know only 1 place that sold the last season models for that money, otherwise they were priced very sharp but not ridiculous (as in 300 or something for a new ski)

still think its a shame they might go :/

any update from coreupt? are they still existing? didnt read anything that said they went out of business on FB...

and i second this. have never had a pair of skis hold up as well as the coreupts i have. really sad to see freeski companies failing. but i think their approach was wrong. they grew too much too fast having the biggest pros and whatnot. shouldve done it like ON3P. start small and get big with growing demand.

I said it when Coreupt popped up in the first place and I'll say it again: FUCK Coreupt.

The only reason that company existed in the first place is a huge auto-industry investor. As far as I know there was nobody actually involved in the industry that helped start the company, seems like a nice way to cash in on a growing sport. They didn't even make original skis in their first year, they rushed onto the market and used Atomic's templates or something, so whack.

One of the reasons they lost so many riders is that they weren't compensating them as promised. Pretty lame that an athlete should need to leave a company with such huge capital just to get paid at the end of the day.

And they made a fucking underwear line? What the fuck?

Anyways, quite stoked to see this company go under.

they are coming out with some awesome ideas, make quality skis and now are handmade in Canada...

Part of Dale's signature style in my opinion is the super upturned tips that Coreupt seems to do, and I mean even though it isn't a big deal, when I see those skis it almost instantly reminds me of him. Regardless, he is an outstanding skier, and Nordica definitely made an excellent move by picking him up.
