He's crazy. Watching the G3 concert with him, Steve Vai, and Joe Satriani is just funny. Vai is super fluid and smooth, Satriani is creative and Malmsteen is running around the stage playing as fast as he can. Would have been such a good concert to go to though.

IN MY OPINION

it's very technical, but i'd rather something with a little more flow. and that goes for both.

I would agree which is why I don't consider him up there with people like Hendrix, Lifeson, or jeff beck, but he does put on a great show and when your in the mood for some epic neoclassical shit he's fun to listen to, and for guitar players it is always entertaining to watch some play like him.

But you're right he sometime enters "jerk-off" mode too much.
