after the success of last seasons thread and the new season only a short wait away after the euros i think it could be time to kick this off

di matteo is set to be confirmed as the new chelsea manager, will he work miracles again?

who's your team and how well do you think they'll do this year?


i'm a sunderland fan and i think we will be top 10 and maybe just sneak into the europa league

haha I was actually more confident at 3-0. A 4-0 scoreline brings back mixed memories for me. We've somehow managed to both draw from a 4 goal lead, and win from a 4 goal deficit in the last 3 years so I just don't know which way to think.

Still love how UEFA claims the draws aren't rigged at all, and yet somehow they got the exact same results today as they did yesterday during the rehearsal.

oh well.


Contemplating trying to get a ticket for the home leg against bayern.

Either that or I'm going to do:

Arsenal vs stoke on Feb 2nd
France vs Germany on Feb 6
PSG vs Bastia on Feb 9

If PSG was playing Valencia at home that week I'd probably throw that in there and then try to round off the trip with Arsenal vs Bayern, but they unfortunately aren't and I can't justify/afford spending a week in paris or london just to kill time.

good day for Arsenal. I didn't wake up in time to watch the match (epic apocalypse party rager went til 5am) but from what I heard it was pretty boring anyway.

Man city really are the kings of cranking out a result. how many 90th minute winners have they gotten now?

You guys think any big moves will happen in January?
I'd like to see Falcao come to Chelsea. Everyone raves over him so I'd like to see more of him and I personally don't think Torres is back. I wish he was/would as he was a tremendous talent.
Anelka back in the EPL would be sweet. I think QPR will get it together in the second half and stay clear of relegation.

I'm a huge chelsea fan(bring the hate). Falcao is a clinical goal scorer. He gets it done but I do not like his personality and how big of a bitch he is when it comes to flopping(yes almost everyone is susceptible to this claim now a days but he is among the worst). Torres is back. This new system chelsea is playing suits him much better and I believe he'll keep up his good form. Also I love qpr and completely agree with you. They have too much quality to be relegated I enjoy watching them play

Falcao fucking MURKS, he's the only player to even come close to Messi and Ronaldo's goal rate in the past year. I don't watch La Liga but from what I've seen he doesn't look like a flopper.

And Torres is not "back". Recently he's scored against Nordsjaelland, Sunderland, Leeds, Monterrey, Leeds and Villa - those were all games against really poor teams or that Chelsea won easily. Let me know when Torres scores some actual important goals like he should have in the Club World Cup final. You just never get the sense that if Chelsea are up against it he will be the one to save the day.

Also, fuck QPR. They bought like retards and are paying for it. They're local rivals but I wouldn't care if they go down.

I don't see the Falcao thing happening, he's got a good thing for him going at Atletico. Maybe in the summer.

Hard to say about big deals. The winter window is so short and its mid season so most big transfers kind of come out of no where.

Just watched the Arsenal game. Walcott was fantastic, but he should've had four. And he does still have a few things to learn. Giroud coming on was fantastic. However, Arsenal's midfield seemed pretty quiet. Wilshere, Arteta, and Cazorla all played alright but none of them really stood out. Wilshere's chipped cross that led to Podolski's goal was superb though.

props to chelsea for effectively killing newcastle's goalscoring.


That 7.5 million release clause for Ba was definitely a regrettable decision.

Will be interesting to see how chelsea use him, and if he holds up. Based on his injury record it seems like it's only a matter of time.


And as usual, 4 days in, all of the players Arsenal were linked with have signed with other teams.

Lewis Holtby moving for free to Tottenham in the Summer. Great move for them. Pato off to Corinthians, Fiorentina sign Giuseppe Rossi, and Newcastle sign Mathieu Debuchy. Nice to see Newcastle finally get Debuchy, they're also rumoured to be after Loic Remy to replace Ba. Hopefully Rossi and Pato get past all their injury problems. Arsenal are also supposedly interested in David Villa. Doubt that goes through.

I dont see why Pato would go back to Brazil during the prime of his career.
The Holtby move looks to be crooked from what I read.
I hope Torres sees more of the bench, I cant see him beating out Ba or playing at the same time.

Couple reasons for Pato. One, he's been riddled by injuries. Sometimes a lower-pressure environment can allow guys more time to heal up. He's also trying to work his way into Brazil's 2014 squad, and their coaching staff is notorious for favoring guys they see on a regular basis in Brazil. And what do you mean by the Holtby's move being crooked?

it's not the holtby move that's crooked. it's fryers. supposedly spurs made him move from United so they could buy him cheaper and not have to pay United directly. wouldn't surprise me one bit based on the way Tottenham treat their finances.

Remy is over rated at the moment. he has not been particularly good for Marseille this season. not a bad player, but he should be doing better.

Yeah, Mike Dean failed. It was as though he wanted to help Arsenal out by evening up the sides because of the crowd pressure! I live a 5 min walk from the Emirates and the Arsenal fans were extra rowdy today. But I support Man U so who cares, 7 points clear!

loic remy isn't considered top class by anyone in France. He has potential and showed a lot of promise, but his stats at marseille this season are pathetic.

M'vila is different because people want to like him, but he basically blows it every opportunity he gets to make a good impression.

yea those 10 minutes at the start of the second half were amazing. Podolski's goal was also the first in a long time that made me go "ooooff what a hit"


Also league cup final looks to be a great one.

I'm an Arsenal fan, and that boy is a little fucker. Before the game, he tweeted something along the lines of how he's going to go waste time. Then he did that shit. Kid deserved it. I'm fairly certain Hazard kicked the ball, but I actually wish he kicked that kid in the ribs. He had it coming.

Oh, and those 11 minutes by Arsenal in the second half were wonderful. Let's do that to Liverpool next week.

Been taking a break from Newschoolers. So, I'm a bit slow on the current topic. Seems like it's on Hazards... Incident. He deserves a two match ban just for kicking the kid but, that kid is a huge wanker. He "fell" then made no attempt to get up after a few seconds. Just disgusting if you ask me. He obviously has learned how to dive from the players lol
