after the success of last seasons thread and the new season only a short wait away after the euros i think it could be time to kick this off

di matteo is set to be confirmed as the new chelsea manager, will he work miracles again?

who's your team and how well do you think they'll do this year?


i'm a sunderland fan and i think we will be top 10 and maybe just sneak into the europa league

i think zlatan officially entered the realm of the messi vs ronaldo debate last night.


Terrific one man performance. Glad he's in the french league too, it's about time we have a major international star.


Also decent performance by France. Any time we beat italy it's good, but beating them away is better. Valbuena scored a stunner too, probably would have been up for goal of the week had it not been for zlatan.

Ibra is amazing.... and that was an amazing performance.

Joe Hart didn't do us any favors though.... I hate him in Goal for England - most over rated keeper we've ever had. Just look at his numbers for this season... he has conceded a stupid number of goals for city - considering they are champions.... That free kick was stoppable. You shouldn't be letting them in from that range.

I'd like to see Fraser Forster (Celtic) get a cap - his performance for Celtic against Barcelona was incredible.

Ibra has been amazing for some time. That goal was sort of a one off but, he usually puts in amazing performances.

I was a bit sad to see him leave Milan but, I think that PSG is putting together a wicked team right now... Silva, Ibra, Lavezzi, Menez. They just need some help in the midfield and I think that they may have a team able to contend for Champions League titles.

seemed like he just didn't get on right there. It was a bit like the real madrid galacticos in the early 2000s. Too many stars with egos.


...though looking back, that real madrid team in 02 was stacked. Plus it gave us one of the greatest goals of all time.

yeah except Barca won something like 13 our of 16 possible trophies under Pep. Barca seems to have a way to keep egos in check, except Zlatan.

Insane achievement. And by too many egos i meant pretty much just zlatan. He is capable of creating as many problems as several players.


I rate that goal as being better than ibra's vs england. There's a difference between being able to do it in a friendly versus in the biggest game of the season.

Well Manchester City would screw me over on my Fantasy Premier League. Last week I got rid of David Silva because he wasn't playing well. Gets 14 points this week. Got rid of both Le Fondre and Tevez this week and they go and score after getting next to no points this year. The three of them can fuck off lol.

...lol I don't even know what to think when I imagine him going out and rapping 'you'll never walk alone' on the field at Parkhead or something equally ridiculous.

Meanwhile, I'm pretty sure during that whole jamaica shit where he became Snoop Lion or whatever, he was wearing a Barca uni. Did Celtic winning that game seriously inspire him that much? what the fuck... haha.

Speaking of Celtic... fucking Benfica...

Good news is that at least Benfica has to play Barca in their finale, and with Spartak losing, Celtic are pretty much guaranteed a trip to the Europa league (which I think they'll do much better in than the CL) even if they come up short on points to Benfica...

Bad news is, that Barca will probably be playing subs against Benfica and Celtic will likely find a way to flop in the finale and basically submit to the Europa contest.

Ugg, I really liked Robbie, I doubt pep is going to come back to managing so quickly. I guess I would like to see Rafa come in, I think he may be able to get something out of torres.

Gahhh WTF. This one wasn't deserved. I think Robbie was doing quite well considering we had 25 points to make up on the Manchester clubs and the second hardest CL group. Sure the performances havent been great lately but that always happens in November, especially considering our lack of depth in the squad. Torres claims a third manager.

If you had told me yesterday that Robbie would be sacked if we lost at Juve I would have called you fucking insane. I guess that's football. In Roman we trust but maaan this dude will give me a heart attack.

RDM - chelsea legend

i doubt they would have done this without a ready replacement because it came out of nowhere and theres no natural person to promote from within the club. i always reckoned Robbie was a 1 year stop gap until Pep. dont think Pep will come into a situation like this so maybe Benitez or a Hiddink type until summer.

di matteo fired = ver very bad, just classless from Roman nuff said

rafa hired = taken on its own this is good. the guy said some nasty things about our club and had a real rivalry going against us but he also had some great success at liverpool and tactically seems good. also did great at valencia. not sure what went wrong after that but hes proven.

real kicker though, only on till the end of the season when we can begin the search for a permanent guy. might be rafa if he does well but i doubt it. roman is obviously lining up for pep. mourinho and klopp are the only others i can think of cause obviously the club wants a big name.

you got to wonder who would take this job though, obviously not somebody whos serious about building something. how stupid would roman look if pep turns him down? wouldnt surprise me, we wont be the only big club looking for a manager come summer. i fear chelsea in the immediate future might be doomed to managers looking for a big final payday - cappelo, harry, heynckes, hiddink - guys that wouldnt stick around long even if they saw out their contracts.

mourinho will not go back to chelsea. He wants manchester united, and they want him. They're already proven winners, and he'd make them absolutely devastating.


I really have no clue about guardiola. I'm undecided as to how well he'd do in england. He took over when barca was just coming together, and had pretty much the greatest team ever at his disposal so winning was going to happen no matter what. I could see him taking over at Arsenal...the team plays a more similar style to barcelona which would be easier for him.


or any of the above could go to city or psg for $500,000 a week

mourinho would have nothing to gain coming back, i agree he's off to united when its vacant.

and yeah why would pep come? city could need him come summer and their owners are much more supportive and patient. i do think hes a good manager but at the same time barca arent really missing him...

jesus, we had the superstars in ancelotti and jose, neither were enough. we had the wonderkid in avb, cut short. club legend in rdm, also cut short. i just dont know where the club goes from here cause all the options and havent settled.

they also, sold rdm short by not getting a proper striker and selling off our depth in midfield. we were the form and style team of the league until about a month ago. its just bullshit. hope the fans make their voices heard on sunday,

I was stunned when I heard this. RDM got Roman what he wanted earlier this year. He goes through a rough patch, mostly thanks to Torres having absolutely no work ethic on the pitch, and gets sacked for it.

I like the money that Roman brings in because it means that Chelsea can get good players on the pitch but, at what cost? The guy is mental. Roman should try being a manager. I bet he does a piss poor job. Then he'll learn truly how difficult it is.

Looks like Falcao could be heading to Chelsea. Roman apparently already has a huge set of money set aside for it, including selling Sturridge. Man City don't seem to want Falcao too. I guess when you have 4 great forwards on one team (Aguero, Tevez, Dzeko and Balotelli) you don't really need to worry about getting another one. I'm just worried that PSG will pick them up, with the way they've been spending lately.

It wasn't the most entertaining game ever, but as a city fan I liked how City played. Beside of the lack of goals. But with the city (and Chelsea) I have seen so far it could easily have been 6-0 to Chelsea.

I liked how the Chelsea fans supported Matteo, it can't be easy coaching under Roman. Matteo brought them their first CL title and they are not far away from the top of the league but he still had to go. Reaally hopes that Mancini gets to stay in City. City has owners that wants a lot as well but they seems more patient and FA cup, Community shield and the league should make him safe. At least I hope so.
