Next Steps for Videoagraphy?

So I currently invested in the Tamron 17-50, as many of you have recommend! Now that I have a decent lens that I can work with, what are the next steps I should take? I dont mean equipment wise, more camera setting and technical things on the camera and in programs that will make my stuff look more professional. Does anyone know a video or thread that could help me out with learning optimal settings on the T3i and any advice for editing the video to make it look better on the computer? Thanks M&A!

basically go play with it a bunch. but i believe its the "Lens Choice?" thread where WillStart wrote up a huge thing on filming with DSLRs. super legit. ill find it..

and the best learning with your camera is to just go out and use it a bunch

that is a super basic method of color grading. if you have the whole fcp suite to edit with, i strongly recommend learning how to use Apple's Color if thats something you are going to do a lot. it will be completely worth time and color grading can boost a video's "presentation" or value a bunch in my book. but to have good color in a video it all starts with having a good picture to begin with like proper light/exposure/focus...all that stuff

Take a drawing class, then take a painting class. Then spend five minutes learning how to use your camera and you'll be miles ahead.
